I brought my favorite cape out for another blustery day here in old Washington (as evidenced by the wind blowing my hair in my face). I actually saw several small whirlwinds build a few yards from me, threatening to turn into dust devils. I considered seeking shelter until the wind died down...but what's the point of life if you hide from a little breeze? Also, chances are spots this high up are often continously windy and I wanted to give a more complete picture of this region than usually presented on the blog. Whenever I'm wandering about for a spot for pictures or exploring, this is the scene I pass: distant purple mountains, fields, and eventually it all becomes evergreen forests. There are places where you can tell farms used to exist and orchards have become overgrown and unkempt, and dozens of spots for prime blackberry picking when the season is right. When I spied this hill I thought it would be a perfect opportunity to show more of a panorama of the area.
