Civilization Is The Progress Toward A Society Of Privacy

My friend who was visiting last week has flown back across the country. Her absence and miserable, grey weather have left me with little desire to venture far outdoors. This week I have not explored much, but have chosen to hole myself up in my room with the music blasting and a pile of books to devour. As much as I am an independent person, I do occasionally enjoy the company of someone I know well to encourage me towards new frontiers. It is one thing to discover an abandoned shack in the woods and another entirely to stumble upon it while with a friend...

P.S. If you like vintage check out Mother's Daughter. It's a new amazingly, curated online shop and it's where my dress is from.

    Quite lovely!

  5. This outfit is so eclectic and comfy looking. I love that hat. I kind of like how in our climates we can still wear tights and hats and stuff even in summer. I feel like I have a lot more latitude in what I wear.

  9. i'm with delightfully tacky- our climate gives us the ability to layer- creating one outfit at one point in the day, and another when we molt. i still haven't put away sweaters, and tights are a must when it's still this chilly! so whimsy to see you 'dreaming' in the grass... keep up the good stuff!

  10. Aww sorry to hear about that, I totally sympathize. Adventures (or even random, everyday things) really are more fun when you have someone to share them with! Still, you are looking lovely as ever in these photos Rebecca. I always love your lying-on-the-grass pics. (:

oh, and this may be of interest (to you and your sponsors) but whenever I am looking for vintage clothes online or other new shops to check out I always come here and peruse your sponsor links. Really. It is much easier than searching through all the dross!

  49. You look lovely and so comfortable lazin' around in the grass :) But you're in Washington so... asn't the grass all wet?!??! I like how your mustard-colored hat brings out the subtle little yellow blossoms here and there...

What books have you been reading?

    ReplyDelete
  50. Yes, there is something about exploration by oneself. It's kind of frightening and intimidating, but also freeing.

I found an old ramshackle of an old shed that was part of a crumbling estate house locked in the woods with no apparent driveway... the shed was far off from the estate house so it took me awhile to realize there actually was a house it was associated with rather than being some enchanted, broken down cabin of yesteryear.

Sometimes, I'd rather be inside, anyway.

    I love that dress.

If you're ever interested in selling it, please let me know before you list it! I believe you and I are the same size. I'd snatch it up in a second.
