I've come to the conclusion that small cities or more rural settings suit my personality much more than larger cities, but when I was younger I often wanted to settle in a city. Large motivation for this aspiration was the public transportation offered in cities. I really enjoy riding trains and subways, even though that means my introverted self is forced into close proximity with countless strangers. Part of me even enjoys the varied and entertaining people-watching these settings allow. I'm not the only one who enjoys a good people-watch as evidenced by numerous photographs throughout time, like Henri Cartier-Bresson, or more recently: Rebecca Davis. She chronicled New York city commuters on 2012 and the series captures a wide variety of human experience. You can follow her Tumblr for even more candid photographs.
