Travel: Waterfalls & Geysers in Iceland

For our first full day in Iceland my sister and I left Reykjavik for the countryside. We started in Þingvellir before heading to Gullfoss and Geysir. These pictures were all taken at Þingvellir National Park where the continental drift between the North American and Eurasian Plates can be seen in the faults. It misted on us as bit as we walked around the park, which made me quite grateful I had packed my hat. Even in the grey it was an absolutely stunning start to our trip; the entire day seemed filled with landscapes out of some epic story. Seeing all the rocky and lava-ridden surfaces, caves and dramatically cloudy skies definitely brings a lot of legends into perspective--when you hear a strange bird's crow echoing from a nearby cave trolls seem a lot more reasonable...
