Weekend In Bruges

The other weekend we spent an early morning traveling to Bruges for a few days of wandering and celebrating another year of getting older and hopefully a little wiser. It was a very magical city that seemed to get more beautiful each time you turned a corner. The grey weather didn't slow us down and at night the rain turned the streets into a reflective wonderland that made you forget you were dancing around puddles. This birthday was a bit more daunting; the older you get the more questions you seem to have and preconceived notions about where you life should be. But then you get to enjoy a beautiful weekend somewhere new with your person and those questions and notions just become a bit of background noise. Right now, I wouldn't want to be anywhere else but here.

  17. These are amazing pictures. I went to Bruges years ago and thought it was beautiful, but it was summer and just so overrun with tourists. I'm thinking February would be a good time to go in the future... so many European cities are just so much calmer and more enjoyable in the winter!

    1. Ah I'd still love to see it in summer though! There were a good number of tourists while we were here too though (the lines for the clock/watchtower were crazy) but we beat most of the crowds/got most of our pictures by getting up at 8AM. Worth it too tho since we were only there for 2 days and didn't want to waste our time sleeping in!
