When I slipped into this dress in the morning I instantly felt like a lady. Red lipstick seemed like a natural choice to pair it with and I trotted out of the house feeling like a ginger Doris Day...and then I was out of the house. While red lips don't seem like an especially big deal to me, it seems like most people I encounter treat it as something unusual. Or at least that is what I am guessing from the number of stares and wide-eyed looks I received (and many of these were from women, mind you!). I simply don't understand society some days; what is the head-turner in this look?
A wee review of the dress: I love the light, but sturdy feel of the fabric and it has a nice, nude toned lining. I did have to punch another hole in the belt to make it fit properly, but the dress itself fits like a dream and has pockets.
I love your dress!!! You're lovely as ever, sweety! Miss your blog Rebecca!
ReplyDeleteI love the print on your dress!
ReplyDeleteAmazing photos as always.
great outfit once again, your hair is getting longer and longer! it's so thick! :)
ReplyDeleteI am so envious of all your dresses.

You look gorgeous! That dress is perfect, and the lipstick works wonderfully. I suppose people are wary of someone who goes a little beyond the expected jeans and tee.
ReplyDeleteYou look great,
ReplyDeletelike always!
The bag and the dress combination is absolutely amazing. :)
ReplyDeleteI love your dress, you're right, it's so sophisticated, I think it works perfectly with the red lipstick!!

ur dress is so lovely, as are all your pictures! I love ur blog :)
ReplyDeleteawesome !
ReplyDeleteI love your dress;*
gorgeous!! love the dress, and your tattoos look awesome in it. I know what you mean about red lipstick, I don't know why it bothers some women when you wear something other than chapstick...don't be fazed, it looks great!
ReplyDeletehow do you get your hair and fringe looking so amazing!???
ReplyDeleteive got a fringe and have not found a way to style it as good as yours.
do you straighten your hair or blow dry it or both?
p.s im sooooo jelous of the colour also.
p.s.s oh and the dress is fab!
xx
I love the print of the dress, it is lovely :) How did you punch a hole in the belt, I need to do that on some of mine, but I don't want to ruin them... I think people are always wary of lipstick especially if it's red, I guess it's fascination and awe? That's what I like to think ;)

The head turner in this look is YOU! Perhaps all of those ladies weren't really staring you down in a way other than being completely amazed (and maybe a tad envious) of how amazing you look.
ReplyDeleteI just love the bow print. It's sweet, but not sickly sweet.
ReplyDelete~K
The gif is perfect!
ReplyDeleteAnd I love to wear lipstick, regardless of what others think. It just cheers me up a little when I need it (:

the back is gorgeous!
ReplyDeleteHola! :)
ReplyDeleteLove your pics near the water! I'm envious, in Madrid we don't have the sea or any other similar thing near us lol.
:)
Besos!
I love the dress, the back on it is fabulous and similar to the back on a dress I own. The red bag goes so well with it... I'm so loving navy blue at the moment.
ReplyDeleteI love the dress and those shoes are amazing!
ReplyDeleteBeautiful dress, I love the back shots.
ReplyDeleteAs perhaps an explanation to the head turning: I find myself looking girls up and down that I think are dressed particularly well. When they catch me I immediately feel guilty, and wish I could explain I was merely taking what was a lovely sight...but I'm sure it isn't coming off as benign as I intend it.
Love this look! I get that opinion over here too that red lippy is almost a very dressy thing..yet its just lipstick?.. Looks lovely on you! so i set let them stare! :) x
ReplyDeleteyou look amazing. i love every detail especially those gorgeous shoes.
ReplyDeleteOooh, I really adore the print of this dress. It goes really well with the red too!

That dress is lovely, I like how you've put the outfit together with the bag, shoes and lipstick. Modcloth have some amazing dresses, hopefully one day I'll be able to buy one :)
ReplyDeleteI love that dress so so much! The combination with the color palette keeps it from being too girly, and the cut, especially the back is perfection! Modcloth is just amazing when it comes to dresses.
ReplyDeleteWhat a sweet little dress! I've noticed the same thing with red lipstick - people treat it as something really strange. This is just a guess, but maybe it's because the pale skin, red lips look isn't really embraced by mainstream society right now; many people are still hanging on to the super-tan skin look, which doesn't lend itself very well to red lipstick. I think the tan look may go out of vogue soon. But who cares? I've always preferred the pale skin/red lips look, so that's what I'll stick with :)
ReplyDeletetattoo-showin' dress! lovely!
ReplyDeleteLovely dress!

Lovely dress!

red lips on you looks natural, without it is unusual for me! that dress is absolutely stunning xx
ReplyDeleteI went through a red lipstick phase my senior year of high school. It's strange how outlandish people consider it, even with a toned down shade, but that could be due to how rural the community was.
ReplyDeleteYou look stunning and I absolutely love how you animated that image. How unique, fabulous idea darling!

love your shoes <3
ReplyDeleteOooh.. love the bow print and the back of the dress is particularly beautiful!
ReplyDeleteLove the animated photo looking out at the sea. :-)
your bow print dress is extremely charming. i love the lite neutral color of those awesome dkny heels. the red lips and red qulited handbag give a fresh and fun pop of color to your look. i'm really liking the flowing water vid too. brilliant
ReplyDeleteOh wow, you look so pretty! I love everythng about the outfit!
ReplyDeleteI know what you mean with the stares. Sometimes i wear somethign normal and it seems the people are all staring and I don't know why. Never mind, I believe most of them are too narrow-minded.
Oh, in the last pic you look like the little mermaid in Copenhagen! Love it!
ReplyDeleteI sometimes stare at other women that have a styling I really like and that I want to know every detail of. So take the staring as a compliment.
What a lovely dress!
ReplyDeleteI'm sure they were just head-turning at your purdy-ness.
ReplyDeleteI love your shoes and purse!! <3
ReplyDeleteI ♥ Bow! Bows on a dress? PERFECT!
ReplyDeleteYou look so pretty! That dress is just darling! I know what you mean about the red lipstick thing. People seem to think it's weird anytime people dress outside of the jeans and a tee shirt norm. People always wonder why I'm so dressed up anytime I wear a dress. I don't really get it.
ReplyDeleteaawww i love that dress!! pretty print and just stunning details at the back! :D
ReplyDeletethe chunky heels are perfect with it! :D

Red is a brave and loud colour. Not many people can pull it off, you wear it very well though.
ReplyDeletebeautiful dress !
ReplyDeleteI get the same reaction when I wear red lipstick! I also find strangers react differently to me... it's like it makes you more noticeable! weird.
ReplyDeletelove the pretty dress!
adorably perfect outfit!
ReplyDeleteit must be your gorgeous red hair that's turning heads- i'm so jealous, i wish i could pull off such a bold, beautiful color!
You look gorgeous in that outfit! And who can resist a dress with pockets? Haha

The pattern of your dress is genius! Absolutely love it!
ReplyDeleteGorgeous dress! I love it! And - don't you turn heads every day with your various outfits and looks? :)
ReplyDeleteyour hair is fantastic, and i love the back detail of the dress!
ReplyDeleteX
Maybe they were staring because you look so lovely they are filing away details in their heads to copy themselves?
ReplyDeleteamazing dress<3
ReplyDeleteand i love the background
You look gorgeous! That dress is just perfect; I adore the fabric print. I know what you mean about the weird stares and such when wearing red lipstick (or anything else out of the "norm"--at least where I live!); I always get comments/questions when I do a bright red lip. It's really quite amusing--considering red is always a classic, imho!

I've just found your blog and I love it! Will definitely add it to my faves:) You are just the cutest. x
ReplyDeleteThe head turner is you, darling! Sometimes it's just being pulled together that makes people double take, I'm sure the looks were of admiration :~)
ReplyDeleteI agree, you are kind of nothing short of stunning, so you're naturally a head-turner...
ReplyDeleteBut you're right. I don't understand why it happens, when women wear red lipstick. It's such an inspiring, powerful colour, it doesn't make sense that women will turn their heads in awe and shock when another woman passes them wearing it. It was such a classic, quintessential colour back in the 40s and 50s, it just seems to backwards now for that kind of reaction.
:)
XX.

damn it, looooove your hair on those pictures...
