Arriving in Venice was a bit like stepping into a film; surreal and so wonderful. We arrived after dark to see the city filled with romantic light streaming from rose-tinted, glass lanterns and reflecting off the canals. A balmy breeze rippled across the water and carried with it the sound of a free concert. After we dropped our bags off at our hostel we stepped out into the warm night for some gelato and a closer look at the music venue. People were dancing in the streets and everything that we hoped would look magical during the day, looked even more surreal and lovely in the eventide. We were entranced immediately.
The day that followed was nearly as wonderful. Venice revealed itself in the morning sun to be a bustling city full of color and winding paths. There were times when we felt we were looking for the minotaur in some elaborate labyrinth, but even getting lost isn't annoying when every street looks so picturesque...

ReplyDeleteI went to Venice several years ago and loved getting lost in all the little alleys. Your pictures are so stunning; they make me want to go back for another visit!
ReplyDeleteWhat a stunning city. You are also wearing the perfect dress for Venice!
ReplyDeleteAt the end of your travels, I'd really like to see you do a summary or overview of sorts. What city inspired you the most, fashion-wise? Culturally? Architecturally? Where could you see yourself living?
oh my goodness... soooo very beautiful!
ReplyDeleteYour pictures are doing Venice so much justice-- especially the ones of the churches. I love how there's so much history in these famous places. That's why my one friend (who went to Rome when she was 11) says she loves Italy, the sheer amount of history you see when you walk down the street.
ReplyDeleteOy, I'm a nerd.

You make Venice look so beautiful! To be honest I didn't enjoy it when I visited - too hot, too expensive and too crowded. It is an incredible city though. but over subscribed with tourists (and I was adding to that...)
ReplyDeleteI love the picture of the lion! I always photograph lion statues wherever I go: I think they really reflect the character of the people who erected them. And this one reflects the drowning nature of Venice so well too...
ReplyDeleteVenice was one of my favourite cities of all the ones I visited in Europe. It really feels magical.
ReplyDeleteI've always wanted to go to venice, these are such beautiful photos, it looks magical!
ReplyDeleteHow funny, I was in Venice last weekend as well! Been going there for years and I still get lost every five minutes...
ReplyDelete@northwest is best, that's wild I found Florence and Rome hotter and more expensive. Venice is officially my favorite Italian city now! :)
