I've been dying to get my hands on a maxi dress for ages, but I'm also 5'1" and I hate purchasing dresses I know I have to hem (I'm lazy that way). So, I was super excited to get this maxi dress in the mail by Singapore label, Club Couture that required no hemming. It's super comfortable and I like how the skirt is sheer, but has a little half slip too. All the pieces I received from the store remind me of the shopping I did when I studied in Japan. It's really such a relief as a petite person to shop in a store where things are cut for your height and proportions. The smalls on this site fit more like US xsmalls. Even the jacket (a size small) hits me perfectly on the shoulders, which nearly never happens! All of that to say, I'm happy I found a good maxi dress for me so I can try out a new style.

You look so great in that maxi dress. I also loved how you matched it with that denim jacket!
ReplyDeleteLove the length! It feels so refreshing with how shorty short trendy dresses are getting.
ReplyDeleteWe are the same height!~ I had no idea that you were not taller than I am from your photos. Lovely dress on you, gives me courage.

Oh! That maxi dress really suits you! I'm only 4'11" and have been unable to wear maxis for the exact same reason. Going to check out Club Couture right now. :)
ReplyDeleteI avoided this style because of my height, but I see it look really on you and it makes me wonder :)
ReplyDeleteI love your look! that dress is awesome

I'm petitie too, and have disappointedly returned several maxi skirts because of the hassle of hemming or excessive sheerness. I will have to check Club Couture out, because you look so lovely and fantastics (and no alterations is a plus!)

I love the maxi dress, most of the time I hate maxi dresses, but you styled this so well I feel the need to buy one asap! Love the denim jacket pairing too!
ReplyDeleteoh i love that half slip underneath, i think it makes the long proportion of the maxi more doable.
ReplyDeleteOh I love this dress!!! I have completely avoiding the maxi dress trend for the exact reason you mentioned. Hemming = evil. I may just have to buy this dress though!! Very affordable too!
ReplyDeletethe dress is gorgeous, and it looks fab on you. I always have to buy things in a long lenth then take them up fractionally as I seem to fall between sizes, very tedious.
ReplyDeleteLove that this is just at the ankle to stop it making you look short too.
lovely outfit!!!
ReplyDeletetake a look at my blog and my first giveaway if you want!

you look great
ReplyDeleteYep, that's a super duper maxi skirt. I'm on the look out for one myself.
ReplyDeleteI have always had a weakness for vintage fascinators and this one is no exception.

Beautiful! I love the contrast of the jacket and the dress. And the simple flats... Love it all.
ReplyDeleteI love how you paired the denim jacket with the maxi dress, it looks so good.
ReplyDeleteI really like the maxi dress on you. I'm petite as well, and it's hard to find one that doesn't swallow me up.
ReplyDeleteMy Heart Blogged
Wow, what a dress, I really love the sheerness. I always have the same problem, I'm tiny too. Great tip!

I LOVE how you styled the dress!! You look great and I love the fact that you wore flats. You've completely inspired me to purchase a maxi dress of my own! I am 5'2" and have been hesitant to try this dress style but you have given me the courage to try it :)
ReplyDeleteThe worst thing about hemming maxis, too, is when you have to take off almost the entire bottom ruffle! (5'2" here, and totally with you on not wanting to have to do alterations.) This looks like the perfect length, though!
ReplyDeleteYAY!!! Would it be totally dorky to say I've been wondering when you'd wear a maxi dress on the blog, and that this post just totally made my day? (: you are seriously rocking this look Rebecca! I ADORE the dress on you. It's really pretty and I love it paired with the denim jacket. <33
ReplyDeleteI love this outfit! That denim jacket looks so good with the dress.
ReplyDeleteGorgeous.
ReplyDeleteYou are so lucky! I am a fellow 5-footer and have been in deep search of maxi dresses and skirts that would suit me. I love that yours is pleated.

it looks great, and it makes me want to get that dress-looks like a perfect maxi!
ReplyDeleteI love how it's a little sheer :) By the way...you do not photograph as 5'1. You look taller!
ReplyDeleteHi
ReplyDeleteI am really new to your blog, chancing upon it last week, but now read it on a daily basis:)
I am from Singapore, and have no idea of this brand in my country! Will check it out. I am sure petites will have no difficulties fitting in local brand as we are an asian country, so most of our people are petite built.
So glad a piece from my country made the way to your blog:)
So cute! I'm 5'8" so I have the exact opposite problem and I envy all the things you're able to wear!
ReplyDeleteI'm only 1 inch taller and I totally know how it feels...ignorant of me not to know Club Couture living in Singapore and all..thanks for sharing...i'm gonna go check out their maxi dresses!
ReplyDeleteoh and you look great in a Maxi! :D
I'm the complete opposite, I have a hard time finding the perfect maxi dress because I'm 5'7" everyone I've tried is too short and just look silly on me. I once had one that was the perfect length but I never knew what shoes to wear with it...
ReplyDeletehttp://hollydollyfashion.blogspot.com
ahh thanks so much for this post!!
ReplyDeletei'm wearing a maxi dress today but don't want to wear heels and I don't have any sandals with me, but this looks great with ballet flats :]]
your dress is gorgeous!
