As I've mentioned loads before: I live inside a moat on a military base. Yesterday was Independence Day and living on a military base means patriotism usually comes with the territory and on the Fourth, fantastic firework displays. I was excited to watch fireworks for the first (and last time) on top of the moat; to watch the bright colors reflect off the water, and snap pictures with wild abandon. However, the skies decided to put on a show of their own and the fireworks were replaced with thunder, lightning, and rain. I'm a tad disappointed to say the least, but at least I'm wearing a new dress and carrying this lovely purse.

Outfit details:
You look absolutely amazing. This is one of my favourite outfits of your latest ones, gorgeous really.
ReplyDeleteGlad you had fireworks yesterday, at least you got a but of them and not all day of thunder, lightning and rain.
Love your outfit !! That hat is stunning !!
ReplyDeleteYour photos are very cute !

Busch Gardens is having their fireworks tonight and Newport News is having their tonight around 9. I live in Portsmouth, VA, and my dad used to work on the base where you live. Unfortunately, the base's fireworks were ruined in the rain last night. Were you able to see Norfolk's display last night? It was pretty awesome, but for some reason, they played pop music over the loud speakers. I would have preferred something more patriotic. Hope you had a good 4th of July!
ReplyDeletethat dress is so gorgeous, and the colors go so well with your hair. hope you had a great 4th!
ReplyDeleteLovely dress. Shame about the fireworks
ReplyDeleteWhat base do you live on?
ReplyDeleteWhen I was young, we were stationed in Virginia, but we didn't live on the actual military base (we were about 30 minutes from Washington DC, however). I'm curious if it's the same one.
Having just moved to a new base (from Ft Campbell,KY to Redstone Arsenal, AL), we were a bit let down by the show. It was beautiful, but Fort Campbell is such a large army base to come to Red Stone which is mainly retired/ gov contractors. We were able to go offpost, however, and see quite the show. It's odd to think that different celebrations go on all of the different posts across the nation.
I apologize if this sounds very scatterbrained.. honestly, I've been watching the Casey Anthony trial all morning and I'm in a bit of a media daze right now.

This outfit is fabulous! I always love how you style pieces, your attention to detail and the use of unexpected touches like the shoe's heels are always refreshing!
ReplyDeleteI love everything about your outfit. Too cute. And so perfect. And that must be amazing celebrating fourth of july on a millitary base. So festiive!
ReplyDeleteThe Girl in the Paper Dress
I adore the fact that you are wearing red, white, and blue for the fourth without looking like an American flag.
ReplyDeleteAll the way on the other side of the country here, we also had a major storm yesterday afternoon, but luckily it cleared only 75 minutes before the fireworks were supposed to begin.

Sad that you had interruption from rain. :( But I still find it, well, almost magical that you live inside a moat.

i would very much like that hat on my head! i adore the top photo of you sitting on the steps.
ReplyDeleteThat dress has such a gorgeous pattern, it really is very pretty.
ReplyDeleteSuper lovely dress, but I especially love your red floppy hat. It's adorable! I always look forward to seeing what new dresses and cute things you'll have on next!
ReplyDeleteThat red hat is just to die for!
ReplyDeleteThat dress totally reminds me of tapestry from the 1500s for some reason. I think I saw a similar print on my trip to a Tudor House over the weekend. Either way, it's gorgeous! And I too was bummed about the fireworks. What a crummy time to have a thunderstorm:(
ReplyDeletelove the dress, it's very pretty :)

Aw I'm sorry you're fireworks display was ruined by the rain! So disappointing! I hope you had some watermelon and/or played with some sparklers to make up for it! I love the pattern on your dress and your beautiful red floppy hat! Fashionably patriotic!
ReplyDeleteSorry your last fireworks there wasn't that much of an event :( But you had a banging outfit for the day! Those heels are gorgeous but I would topple over if I wore them, I'm afraid :)
ReplyDeleteI'm sorry you didn't get to see the show :( Living on a base during the holiday must be fun - just spending time with my military friends was a good experience this weekend. I do love that dress, and the hat is perfect.
