The river I like to visit has flooded. These trees, usually yards from the shore, are now half-submerged in icy waters. It's funny when landscapes change like that. Even things that seem permanent go through alterations, like the moon waxing and waning continually. Anyway, I slipped through the mud quite a bit to take these pictures after the sun had slipped below the horizon and it was bitterly cold, but one of those wonderful evenings that makes you feel alive. Even when things don't go quite as planned or I drag a trail of mud behind me on my walk home, I can still get such a sense of peace from a quiet moment stolen in nature.
Beautiful shots. The beauty of all things is in their impermanence, from the shoreline of the river you love so much to the golden hue of the sky as the sun slips below the horizon. Everything that changes is more beautiful for what it once was and may never be again.
You are so adorable that it kind of makes me mad. But I'll forgive you eventually. Holy crap, I want your hair. It's so lovely. This is such a sweet, nautical outfit. The cardigan is positively charming. You're quite a talented writer as well.
Your look is perfect! Love the gloves!
