"Is bliss, then, such abyss
I must not put my foot amiss
For fear I spoil my shoe?
I ’d rather suit my foot
Than save my boot,
For yet to buy another pair
Is possible
At any fair.
But bliss is sold just once;
The patent lost
None buy it any more." -Emily Dickinson
When I put this dress on I was reminded that it was over a year ago this vintage beauty came into my possession. It has been on a number of adventures since then; I even chose to wear it at my college graduation last year under my cap and gown. It's such a lovely, understated shade of green and the polka dots make mixing black and brown ridiculously easy. I might be going on a trip late this summer and I do think this dress would be worth packing; such an easy, classic summer staple.

ReplyDeleteyou look very nice upon your podium, and once more I envy you your surroundings and absence of bright, whitening Australian sun and bleached foliage =]

ReplyDeletelove the color combo! how the shoes highlight your hair, and the skirt pulls everything together. nice!
ReplyDeleteLove the photos of you standing on the stump :)

Aww, your dress is very sweet. Your gif is so funny, because it looks super windy, which it definitely was in Washington yesterday! When I was driving I could feel the wind bumping my car this way and that!
ReplyDeleteI like the shoes, the blazer, colors are matching, but I'm not going to lie...You can do better.
ReplyDeletethat second photo is so pretty! you are so beautiful!
ReplyDelete@Oana Roxana, I don't understand your opinion at all. I don't rank outfits as better or worse; I just get dressed in the morning in what I like to wear. My outfits are certainly not in competition with each other, frankly that's silly.
ReplyDeletecapital outfit of course! :D
ReplyDeletethe gif looks like it was raining and winding [[??]] up a storm!
I'm a huge fan of polka dots. I have a feeling I would drool in your closet!!
ReplyDeleteLovely dress! I've been looking for a similar one - polka dots on a muted background, sweet but more grown up. I love it when prints enable difficult or unusual colour combinations!
ReplyDeleteThat second pic is fantastic! I'm always envious of those booties. You work them so well.
ReplyDelete~Kristy
I really love the closeup of yourself. You don't do a lot of those, and I'm glad you did.
ReplyDeleteI'm certainly into floaty skirts like this lately, and so it's nice when bloggers whose style I really respect sport the same styles I'm trying to emulate.
Bravo.
And to the commenter who insulted you, that's pretty asinine to compare yourself to yourself. You can do better? C'mon, it's not like you're trying to one-up yourself on each new post. That's just a lame comment.

ReplyDeleteI don't usually mix black and brown, but you make it look so chic, effortless and pretty. Those shoes are to die for, and lovely photos as always (:
ReplyDeleteoh i do love polka dots, lovely
ReplyDeleteI love the combination of the fitted blazer and the way the bottom of the dress has so much movement. Personally, I think you always have great outfits :D Also, you do a really nice job styling your Seychelles blimeys. I recently got a pair but I never know when to wear them since I hardly ever wear heels and they make me feel so tall haha
ReplyDeleteLove this outfit!
ReplyDeleteLovely oufit!and the pale tones of the dress gives it such a nostalgic aura!
ReplyDeleteI love that your dress already has some history with you. It really is a lovely find. Your photos look so cool -- I mean, they always do -- but the sky looks so ominous in the photos that they give off this mysterious vibe.
ReplyDeleteThe booties are really the star for me, but the dress looks so free and easy, too! Lovely choice.

I love that color nailpolish! I scrolled down right away to see if you posted the name of it...oh well!
ReplyDeleteCute outfit too, and beautiful location!
Such a lovely dress. Great shoes, too. Thanks for sharing the Dickinson poem. That sentiment is pretty much how I treat mine and my daughter's clothes. I want us to have adventures and not worry how it might affect our clothing.

ReplyDeleteWhat does the top of the dress look like? Also love the animated gif. It's amazing to see how windy and fluid your environment is because the still shots seem so calm.
ReplyDeleteI love the feeling of finding the perfect (vintage) dress. I also, love pictures of you looking straight at the camera! Somehow, I feel like there aren't that many of those.
