It is hard to live near the water and not dress nautical; I firmly believe that our surroundings influence us greatly. So, as this outfit came together I felt as if I ought to be spending my day on some sort of sailboat (obviously I did not!). I couldn’t resist this little striped number from the brand Dear Creatures, which my sponsor Shop Ruche carries. It’s everything I expect from Ruche and Dear Creatures: slightly retro, timeless, and comfortable. It’s a perfect summer dress, but as summer is leaving us I had to throw on some layers—I’m a big fan of blue, on blue, on blue… This denim vest is turning out to be a great layering piece!

I love the way you've done your hair (:

the denim vest is such a wonderful, unexpected contrast to the rest of the nautical look and the tailored jacket.
ReplyDeletemakes me wish i was closer to the sea!!
Totally agree about surroundings being influential...that's why I love moving or visiting a place, I love how I start to change my way of dressing. Learning how to be chameleon like is a valuable skill.
ReplyDeleteI love the headscarf; how do you get it to stay put? Mine constantly fall off, and I don't notice it until somebody runs after me with it. :)
Look at you! Retro chic and everything.
ReplyDeletemy go to item as to be a striped nautical shirt, and of course, since I moved to an island 6 months ago it as intensified my obsession on nautical items! so i totally agree on how living near the beach (and seeing it every single day) can affect that!

I love the retro edge you've added with the scarf in your hair. Also love the geek chic glasses necklace! It adds a slight boyishness to a girly look.
ReplyDeletecute outfit, i really like the scarf in your hair, its a nice touch
ReplyDeleteEver since you got that vest, you've been showing me new ways to style my denim vest. It's such a cool piece, and I like that you still manage to keep your girlyness in wearing it!
ReplyDeleteKicky, Flippy dresses are the cutest. Especially if they evoke days in Paris. with a cute fascinator or beret, you'd be in very Parisian shape!
ReplyDeleteLovely.

Another great look by you! Just curious how come you did not wear navy or white keds to complete the nautical theme?
ReplyDeleteGreat look girl! Love the headband idea very much. I think I will try it too...it looks so sweet on you!
ReplyDelete@Anonymous, for one thing I like to mix things up a bit: nothing to head to toe or theme-y; it should look nautical without being too literal. Second thing: I don't have keds! :)
ReplyDeleteI love the layers, and those shoes!!
ReplyDeleteI wanna leave there. I would spend the entire day sitting there.
Kisses!
Love the nautical influence. I also agree about living near water and dressing nautical. It's always fun!
