Femme Fatale

Confession: I love the style of the ladies in the band The Like, but I've never heard a song of theirs I enjoy. I really wish I loved their music, because it would be a nice excuse to admire their clothes. Perhaps I don't need an excuse. These photographs by James D. Kelly make organ player Annie Monroe look like a 1960s femme fatale. From her leopard print pillbox hat to her winged eyeliner and double breasted scooter dresses, I want everything. She's also making me want to cut my hair again...something I haven't remotely considered in ages.

  14. Right out of an Anna Karina movie, I'd say. I also really like their re-invented style and their song Not a Boy, but the rest of their tracks are meh. A pity. I wish they were as good as the Pipettes in their earlier albums.

Their drummer Tennessee Thomas (?) did a shoot for Bass shoes-Rachel Antonoff that was AWESOME.

  15. Their songs are pretty bland, but their styling is dreamy. Especially love that leopard print hat...

  16. I loved their first album, way back in 2005. It was interesting, it wasn't like anything I'd heard before (but that was probably because I was 16). Now . . . I'm just not as excited. I love their style, though, and the pictures are beautiful!

  19. Ha, I didn't realise so many people felt this way.
I saw The Like on a TV interview first & thought I'd love their music (classic packaging trick!), then when I heard a song of theirs I was so sad that it was... not good.
    Still love the look though!

  28. I feel kind of the same way about the Pipettes. I want so bad to love them, if only for the fact that they have a member named Riot Becky. At least Pull Shapes is an awesome song.
