While I was taking pictures I heard a train coming and my heart did skip a few beats. I scrambled quite quickly to get myself and my camera off the tracks, only to realize the train was headed down an entirely different set several yards from me; then I sat on the rails having a little laugh at myself. (As I explained to a friend, I was more concerned about my camera than myself--I can move my body, but my camera is a poor, helpless inanimate object and can not get out of the way.) Taking pictures in interesting places does have its pitfalls and I've collected a number of humorous stories (from creepy cars following me to military police officers who detain me and several snakes and spiders in between). It always amuses me how sometimes the worst days photographically can turn out some of the most idyllic pictures. Often when I'm smiling really big in a shot, it's because I was just laughing at myself (for being scared of trains or nearly falling over from heel difficulties).

This dress looks really easy and cute. And you look relaxed despite the train scare! :)
ReplyDeleteLove, love, love the dress. You look so cute!
ReplyDeleteI'm glad you and your camera are ok! I love this dress on you!
ReplyDeleteOmg, I'd have never thought that shooting outfit post can be "dangerous". I imagine a situation in which high heels & snakes are involved, could be as funny to remember as scaring in the moment. Anyway, the outfit is lovely,I'm neither into ruffles, but this one is cute, the color is beautiful.
ReplyDeletei love this dress! so flowy 8) and haha i always get scared on train tracks. my friends and i will like run up to one and stand on it and pretend we're being daring. silly us ;)
ReplyDeleteYou look STUNNING in this dress!

OMG! I heart your pics on train tracks...those are my fav actually...but do take care!
ReplyDeleteOh gosh, yes! Taking pictures around train tracks always puts me on edge! Once in college I was taking some pictures of the sunset over train tracks, and I turned around and three cars had stopped and their drivers were running towards me! They thought I was throwing myself on the tracks or something. Nope, just taking a picture....awkward.
ReplyDeletePS I love this dress on you. Maybe it's the ruffles or just the fear in your eyes (haha) but you look especially pretty!
That dress looks really sweet on you.
ReplyDeleteI looove the last picture!
ReplyDeleteAnd you've been detained by military officers? They thought taking photos of yourself was suspicious or something? Hahaha
what a lovely dress!
ReplyDeleteGreat photos and outfit! XOXO, www.NatalyasCloset.com
ReplyDelete@Mallory, yep! I deal with military police pretty often, sometimes they just pull up where I'm at and ask what I'm doing, other times they worry that my photographs could be a "security breach" (of the woods apparently) & then it takes a little longer to clear things up.
ReplyDeleteI love your smile! So pretty.
ReplyDeleteHaha, yes, MP's are always very concerned about photos!
I'm glad you weren't squished. I had a train experience too horrific to even blog about this morning, so I'm glad there isn't some sort of train-related bad karma going around.
ReplyDeleteK xx
Pretty dress! Funny, I also did some photos on a railroad too for my newest post=)

Heh I've always wanted to take outfit pics on the train tracks by my work, but there is a train that goes past during my lunch break/outfit pic break which isn't ideal! :( and yes the beat photos usually do come with a good story!

Your legs always look great, but you're dynamite in this outfit. That first pic of you is my favorite; tag it and show it to your grandchildren. I'm serious
ReplyDelete@veronica, aw thanks, that's so sweet. it's so weird to think about sharing these pics with my kids or grandkids! that is if I have any! I rather fancy being the crazy aunt who gives strange gifts to my nieces & nephews...like auntie mame. :)
ReplyDeleteI have always wondered how bloggers take their pictures on the train tracks. It is something I've wanted to try but I don't how I would find a train track that was not busy/I could get onto. You look lovely as always.
ReplyDelete@Imogen, yep it definitely depends on the tracks. There were tracks near where I lived in WA, but they were very active. These ones aren't used often (there are even abandoned trains here), but they are used on occasion, so I have to be-ware.
ReplyDeleteI love your train track photos, every track we have around here is either well fenced off, have trains going every 10 minutes and/or are full of litter, booh.
ReplyDeleteThe dress and colour look lovely on you as well.
You're right, I wouldn't be able to tell you were scared - the pictures look idyllic. :) And your dress is beautiful!
ReplyDeleteI'd be scared stiff meeting snakes while shooting! I only met creepy men so far. Come to think of it, I don't know which is worse. :)
@Madeline, personally I think the creepy men are worse. Snakes scare off easy & many aren't poisonous. I've never had a snake follow me!
ReplyDeleteI would practically pee my pants if I thought I heard a train coming towards me. I saw Fried Green Tomatoes and it pretty much scared me from ever going to the train tracks for pictures. So I commend you on your bravery;)
ReplyDeleteAnd the dress is gorgeous!!
haha I'm glad you didn't get hit by a train! I would probably try to save my camera too if I heard one coming. I love the ruffles on your dress so much. Such a cute look.
ReplyDeleteJ'adore your dress so much!
ReplyDeleteAnd you are amazing with it <3
