As I've stated before, I take my own pictures (self-timer and tripod), so since it's a slightly silly process of me running back for forth for the timer, I like to find quiet, isolated spots to shoot in. I also like to find quiet, isolated spots in general--they're great for walking, thinking, and you know, being alone. On this particular day I had a terrible time finding a quiet spot; the weather was nice for a winter's day so people were out walking their pets, watching the sun set on the water, and driving me to distraction with their presence. Just as the final light was fading a couple abandoned the lake and I quickly snapped these pictures on the dock. It's funny how I look forward to an overcast and colder day because I know it means less people will brave the elements...

You look so lovely in these photos! I love how your photos always has this magical charm to them!
ReplyDeleteBeautiful outfit! I did not know you take your own photos! That is amazing!
ReplyDeleteVery cute photos! You look adorable. Love the striped tee.

I do the same thing! Except I have a remote...it was a great buy even for 20 bucks! Cuts down the time I spend taking pictures DRAMATICALLY! I love this outfit. How do you focus your camera if you use the self timer? I know what you mean about feeling silly. It's so awkward when someone sees you taking your own pictures lol! I'd love to talk more about it, email me back or comment on my blog!!! <3

I get so shy when people are around while taking photos! I wish I didn't worry or get embarrassed, but I guess I'm still trying to get used to it!
ReplyDeleteI adoooore the white cowl but the whole outfit is cute! I really love your fashion sense and style. You look amazing in every picture!
ReplyDelete(I would be terrified taking pictures on my own. I would feel very very strange to take pictures when there are other people near. But it's so great you have the courage!)
Love, Lela
Gorgeous, I love the animated one. I can never quite figure out the best/quietest spots for photos, places that work one day seem to be packed the next. I'm still so nervous about taking photos in front of people.
ReplyDeleteI guess that's a lot of practice but I wouldn't be able to do that on my own. I love that red-stripes shirt :)
ReplyDeleteI absolutely love this outfit. I'm a little obsessed with red and stripes lately...just perfect :) And if I'm not mistaken, the title of this post is from my favorite poem, so that makes me love it all the more!
ReplyDeleteI usually do the same, but I came out with strange expressions, so whenever I can I torture my son and force him to take the photos; but either way I also try to look for a quiet place with no people at all.
ReplyDeleteI love how that top looks with that skirt! <3
I know exactly how that is. Just the other day I was trying to take some pictures in one of my usual quiet spots and just as the self timer went off, some people walked right up. Awkwardest look on my face in the resulting picture and I had to head off to take them somewhere else.
ReplyDeleteYours always turn out so lovely though. Sometimes I think I read your blog more for the photography than the fashion but I DO love your style too.
Ah, my favourite poem! It is extremely irritating when people just won't leave... and try finding isolated spots in downtown Barcelona! I very much like that skort by the way...
ReplyDeleteWhoever coined the word "cute" clearly had you in mind. As for the timer business, is there a remote control available for your camera? Most current digital SLR cameras have just such an accessory. I have one for my Nikon D90, and it works wonderfully well. It even can be programmed with a 10 second delay so that you can palm the remote before the shutter trips.
ReplyDeleteThe bokeh in these photographs is absolutely phenomenal! ❤
ReplyDeleteOMG! It's definitely hard to take pictures because of the fact that just when you think you are in a lonely and isolated area, out come all the people to stare and watch you take pictures. It's such a hassle tying to take pictures on your own. It's especially hard for me because I tend to get uncomfortable and then it shows on my pictures.
ReplyDeleteyou take such lovely pictures. and i love the outfit. looks cozy :)

Agreed. There is something about having an area to yourself secluded from the world that is kind of nice. Particularly when taking outfit photos - I can't tell you how many times passerby's have offered to take my photo for me. I politely decline then think YOU'RE TOTALLY MISSING THE POINT.
ReplyDeletethat skirt is very fetching! you look radiant.
ReplyDeleteOh do I know what you mean! I love having a place all to myself to roam with my husband and do photos without the fear of some person awkwardly watching or asking questions.
ReplyDeleteSo pretty. Im also really into stripes this past week. In fact I just wrote a post about it yesterday. Check it out if you'd like: Http:oliveobserver.blogspot.com
ReplyDeleteI LOVE the scarf!!!

These pics are just lovely. And I adore your outfit. And you live on military bases right? That must make it easier/safer to be out walking by yourself. I know I always WANT to go out walking by myself (at least before kids when it was possible). But there's always a recent siting of naked man accosting people in my town (for some reason...otherwise a safe town...so who knows why?).
ReplyDeleteBut yes, lovely lovely pics. Love the light in the trees behind you.
i love your style!
ReplyDeleteit seens good:)
Gorgeous photos! Your scarf and skirt and just so pretty!

Do you often have well-meaning strangers offer to take your photo for you? I do, and it's always so uncomfortable because I don't want to be rude but..
ReplyDeleteAnyhow, depending on the camera you use, you can probably buy a remote for it. I did and it's one of my better purchases.
love your shoe the most~
