This past summer I was on the hunt for the perfect red dress and I finally snagged this one from Zara (before they had a website through a friend). Unfortunately, it was a size too large so it took some major alterations--shortening the torso, taking in the sides, adjusting the sleeve length, etc. However, with all that complete it is nearly my perfect little red dress. I've been wearing it with layers this fall and winter as well. The pictures are posted in chronological order (remember when I had hair?).
I'm curious how many of your pieces you have tailored. I think we're about the same measurements (though I'm taller at 5'6") and it's a battle to find clothes that fit me, I always have to take inches out of the sides and waist myself, but you seem to meet success much more often. Can you write a post about tailoring and show us some pieces you had tailored?
ReplyDeleteYou look lovely in the red dress! Love all the different ways you style it, but I like the 2nd photo the best!

@Sarah, sorry I'm not a sewing/tailoring expert so I don't really feel showing my haphazards seams would benefit anyone! I'd just say keep experimenting with it...
ReplyDeleteWe have ZARA here in Oxford and I often go in and browse just long enough to finish my cappuccino--any longer and i'm likely to succumb . . . I really love the first photograph in particular--there's something so absolutely timeless about the image and your lovely personality really comes through somehow in the clothes and the posture. Thanks for these!
ReplyDeleteThat dress is so cool! I want a dress just like that and I also want your hair, the colour is amazing...is it natural if you dont mind me asking?
ReplyDeleteIt suits you so well !
ReplyDeleteI love all the ways you styled this sweet little red dress. I have to say the last picture is my favorite. I love the layers, and I adore your short hair. You wear it so well. Happy Sunday!

Yep, I think a little red dress is even more essential than a black one?
ReplyDeleteDo you miss your hair at all, or are you happy to be liberated from it?
Super cute look!
ReplyDeleteThere's nothing like the perfect red dress! Wardrobe staple.

Such a pretty dress. I love the shape and the color!
ReplyDeleteThat's a lovely frock, and very versatile too.
ReplyDeleteI love that red dress and I have it too! I am now very tempted to some some alterations and remove the details on the shoulders and shortening it after seeing how awesome it looks on you. I love how it's such a thick material too, keeps me cosy in Winter!
ReplyDeletebest dress 4 real
ReplyDeleteomg your hair was sooooo long.

I have recently acquired the perfect red dress myself and know the delight it brings! Happy for you!
ReplyDeleteThis post totally makes me want a red dress, too. I love the tan coat with the toggles, too!
ReplyDeleteI like how the red goes so well against the white background in the top photos, it really compliments the dress.

gorgeous dress
ReplyDeleteIt's the perfect silhouette dress, period. Not just because it's red. The red only adds to your 60s chic glam vibe. I'm sure you don't like the term "glam" as applied to you, but you certainly rock this dress, and it was made for you, like a character in a Zooey Deschanel song.

Ps. I've missed you. Hopefully I'm back on the blogging bandwagon. Maybe...
Red dresses are the best! Love this one too, I think it was in the window display of our local Zara for quite some time, but unfortunately I didn't buy it...
