When does one become too old to wear outfits that are reminiscent of schoolgirl uniforms? I didn't know how uniform-looking this would turn out when I was putting it on, but I'm not opposed to the resemblence. I've long left my schoolgirl days behind me, but I still like the structure and charm of pinafore with a pretty blouse (although mine is in desperate need of some ironing...). .

This outfit is adorable! I love how you paired the blouse with it. And I love your purse!

Honestly I'm 31 years old and don't care about wearing schoolgirl resembling clothing. I've not abandoning my pleated skirts, thigh high socks and mary janes as long as I still look good in them. Nobody is walking around with an ID scanner around my apartment!
ReplyDeleteI guess the only concern with wearing "school girl" style clothing is if you want to look your age...I definitely feel your pain (as you have mentioned before) about people not thinking you look as old as you are. But honestly? Your outfit is so nice it doesn't really matter! I love layering blouses and dresses.

You remind me of a japanese anime character, I love this outfit.
ReplyDeleteGorgeous! I love outfits like this and as a girl who wore uniforms for many many years, I assure you none of them were anywhere near as adorable as this look (think plaid skirts and white polo shirts and scratchy sweaters, yuck!). You are inspiring me to start my own outfit posts (once I get the whole tripod tech aspects down) :).

I love the crossed straps at the back of the dress!
ReplyDeleteI kinda of liked it wrinkled and not ironed. Nice texture pairing with the dress. :)

I actually found myself asking the same question when I found a gingham school uniform in a thrift store, for 12-14 y.o. I think, and wore it with oxfords :) It's never too old if you still fit the part :)
ReplyDeleteDefinitely uniform-like, but you do this reminiscent, retro thing so well no one would ever accuse you of looking too school girl.
ReplyDeleteI don't.
You look chic and playful. What's better than that?

Oh, my! I am in love with this dress! So adorable! ;D
ReplyDeleteLOVE this combination!
ReplyDeleteI got this dress too but it didn't look nearly as good on me as it does on you so I returned it. I love your you wore a layer underneath!
ReplyDeleteOne is never too old to wear schoolgirl clothing. In fact, I dress in schoolgirl clothing almost every day. I just love how classy and presentable it looks! Your bag is really lovely, by the way.
ReplyDeleteYou seem to HATE ironing. I get it. Kind of. I used to be obsessive about wrinkles: in high school I ironed my JEANS. And then I got over it...mostly. Anyway, I totally recommend a steamer. It's much quicker and easier (and better for your clothes) than ironing.
ReplyDeleteAlso, you look awesome. I love the dress and how your tattoos show through the blouse!
I think this is a charming outfit. I love the details of the back.
ReplyDeleteI've had a major style crush on this dress ever since I first saw it. It looks lovely with that blouse underneath!

@Kimberellie, I do hate ironing! But I also tend to not notice wrinkles until I'm getting dressed and then I have somewhere to be...and then it's too late, you know? haha, but I hate it so much. :)
ReplyDeleteBeautiful dress! I am a sucker for anything slightly reminiscent of sailor style :)
ReplyDeleteI will never tire of this dress! It's funny because this whole "age appropriate" dressing topic came up when I was out with friends the other night. I think it is very different for everyone but it's more about how comfortable you are in your clothes. I think you can pull off almost anything if you have the right attitude. Why should you change what you like to wear just because society says you are too old? as my 4 year old self would say: they're not the boss of me ;)
ReplyDeleteYour blog is so nice!
