Every Tree Was Excited

“A few minutes ago every tree was excited, bowing to the roaring storm, waving, swirling, tossing their branches in glorious enthusiasm like worship. But though to the outer ear these trees are now silent, their songs never cease.” -John Muir (author/naturalist)
I’ve always appreciated the congenial nature of trees. Their sincerity and warmth. Their arms always seem to be out, beckoning life to come and rest in its folds, birds, insects, sunlight, me. There is a freedom there, and quiet comfort. A connection with life at its most natural. It’s the same feeling, and peace, of sunlight falling into the palm of your hand, toes lost in a field of dewy grass, or a warm summer breeze brushing across your face. In a chaotic world of technology, bills, and e-mails, it’s nice to find a place of silence, and serenity. A place you can go and just breathe, and listen to the quiet creak of a life that’s been living for years. I hope I'm never too old to go about climbing in trees.
