There's a chill in the morning air, making it just that much harder to leave the cozy fort of blankets piled on the bed each night. A bitterness at night as I walk back home in the dark--a few dead leaves crunching underfoot and a chill breeze that promises more autumn signs are to come even as I wrap my arms a little tighter about myself. Sometimes fall seems colder than winter as we watch the flora die and our bodies register the shock of shorter, cooler days that are as sudden as a tumble into a mountain stream. Our hearths aren't yet filled with roaring fires; our bellies still await holiday feasts and seasonal goodies. We leave our homes in sweaters and socks and wish we had coats and boots after the sun has set. Fall is the first shiver down your spine...
Loving that coat, especially in combination with all your other items too. But most especially loving your site for the photoshoot. Very creative and evocative of Autumn somehow.
Not to say your photos are less beautiful than Jon's, or that your outfit is any less wonderful than others (I really do love this outfit, btw)...but I just enjoy the smile you give when Jon takes your picture. :) Just that subtle little difference has such weight. Beautiful as always.
You really do have a gift for evoking a season. Here in Seattle we're having quite the Indian summer and it's beautiful but I'm realizing I really am looking forward to a true chill in the air. I should be enjoying this though, since I'm sure our usual grey weather will be back in no time and I'll be wishing for days I could wear bare legs (which I don't EVER remember doing in October!)
love the collar on your dress

The mornings and days are getting chillier here. No longer can I stroll out into the backyard in my pajamas with a cup of tea.
ReplyDeleteNow, I bundle up on the couch under a blanket and long for the hot summer sun to return.
Sincerely,
Joanna
