After years of debate, I went blue...I wanted blue hair since I was little but when I was younger and bolder it was against my parents' rules and when I was older I kept chickening out...what if it ruined my hair and what if I disliked how it looked? However, in the process of growing my hair out I suppose I got bored to the point of feeling fearless and decided to just go for it instead of getting a trim. Thomas was also very encouraging which was a positive push towards the change--it's always nice to have support when you're trying something new. Anyway, after all that drama and worry I really like the color and can foresee myself as an old "blue hair" for the indefinite future--it doesn't even startle me when I look in the mirror. Definitely worth whatever "risk" it is to mess with your hair.
It looks just like Sailor Mercury's hair! :) haha love it! Glad you decided to try it! I just spent the last year or so not dying my hair and trying to get it back to its natural color, and I am officially bored!
omg it looks so perfect!! i see your blog EVERY DAY i think for years now and i dont remember ever commenting but wow this is so great i just love it, it looks perfect on you YAY
Can I just say that it looks PERFECT on you?? I cannot imagine any other person who could pull this one off so perfectly, it's like I am seeing something out of a japanese manga, and I love it. http://fashionfauxpas-mintjulep.blogspot.com
It's ridiculously, splendidly gorgeous and flatters you superbly! Majorly hair-envy inducing. I think now is a great time for you to experiment because if anything goes amiss, it's already short so hacking it off won't feel as dramatic as if it might if it were longer. Now I'm curious (and nosy), who is this Thomas? I've been away from blogworld for a bit so I must have missed his introduction. Feel free not to indulge my nosiness if it's too personal! :)
Rebecca, the blue looks awesome! To reiterate Mint Julep, this look is pure perfection on you. You pull off this look amazingly well and without any contrived effort. You rock!
@Shayo, Thomas is my boyfriend. Haven't done an introductory post yet but I mention him from time to time (esp cause he gets a kick out of being mentioned on the blog, haha).
Oh my word, it looks so nice! I've always wanted blue hair but couldn't get away with it now at work. And had school before, and was too terrified to bleach! The really great thing about short hair is you can dye it more often and more crazy colours, simply because it's less of a risk since it doesn't take too long to grow out. I'm currently waiting until I have enough money to go to the hairdressers to dye mine auburn/dark ginger... I am quite nervous though in case I don't like it!
Your hair is perfection. I've wanted to go blue or pink for the longest time and now because you've done it I reallllllyyyyy want to as well. You rock it and I love it.
I love it! Have you ever read Daughter of Smoke and Bone? The heroine is a blue-haired wonder, and I couldn't help but think of her. It's a great read, for sure! Love the change!
Wow, it's the most perfect shade of blue I've ever seen on hair! <333. It looks really natural that way, and it definitely compliments you! it also seems like your hair didn't really suffer the hair dye, which is a nice plus!
I've debated going blue for a long time too. The most I did was a small strip in the back that only showed in pony tails and stuff. This blue looks amazing on you! and I love how the floral headband looks with it.
At first I expected a brighter blue, but this is so much better. You look like a sea sprite or other mystical water creature. I just love seeing someone take a risk with their appearance and being all the more confident because of it. Enchanting.
Your hair before was always my ideal shade of auburn and one that I think I've just about achieved through lots of trial and error with hairdyes... but now I'm having serious blue hair envy! It so suits you, subtle but also not. Beautiful!
Your hair looks so amazing!!! :) I just made a harrowing hair choice recently (chopping off a foot to donate to Locks of Love), and I'm so happy with mine, too. Cheers to happy hair decisions!
@Anonymous 1:49PM, Thanks! I went to a pro and she gave me a ton of highlights before putting the blue in. I think in other pics you'll see the different blue tones more, so you can see the highlights/darker bits better.
It's really lovely. The way you've styled it, it doesn't really look punk or alternative which is what I associate with blue hair. It looks sweet, and ethereal, like you are some exotic blue fairy.
So awesome! When I was in undergrad, my friend and I were musical theater nerds and we were obsessed with this song and actress. Your post reminded me of it today! Thanks! Hope you like it! http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5WQIM6sTbt0
woohoo i'd been waiting for this post for what seemed like agesss. haha. just to reiterate what i already said: you look stunning as a blue-head. (: can't wait for you to post more photos, especially ones with the curly/flippy tips! <3
It looks great on you, Rebecca! Really really good. Yay for finally going for it. I love that the stylist added different tones...it makes it very subtle, with the darker parts looking almost black with blue highlights, at least it looks it from these photos. Also, I have to say it always cracks me up when people say that having colored hair "gives you an edge." To me, colored hair on women *almost* always makes them look even more sweet, cute, cartoon-like, and fun. Nothing edgy about that. Like saying a tattoo of a kitten or a flower is edgy. Um, not really. :D Anyway, it looks perfect.
waaaaa fun! I love it! I really like the darker greenish blue and that it's kind of muted. I love my white hair, but people keep pushing me to dye it a colour, and if I did, it'd probably be either blue or lavender. I'm super happy with the white though....SO when I get back to the East in august and while your hair is still short, we should totally film something together as lil tinker bell friends or something. columcille could be cool, yeah?
So enchanting! The blue definitely gives your sweet look a bit more of an edge, which I love.

is that blue though?? it kind of just looks black :\
ReplyDeleteI think you'd look awesome with a really light, baby blue! Like an anime character...
