A couple of days before Thomas flew home we drove down to my parents' house, stopping at this botanical garden along the way to make the drive seem less long and the day more fun. (Yes, poor Thomas had the misfortune of dealing with the whole "meeting the parents" both on his arrival and exit from the States this trip.) There were loads of flowers in bloom and we even had the fortune of spying an odd and beautiful hummingbird bee. I always admire the pretty manicured beds in botanical gardens; it's a pristine state I could never duplicate in my own home. I don't have patience with yard work and usually forget to water potted plants, even when specifically requested to "plant sit" for a couple of weeks...Anyway, it doesn't take a green thumb to appreciate a nice garden; in fact it's probably someone who know how impossible it is to achieve for themselves that appreciates it the most. We always want what we can't have, no?

Gorgeous contrast of colors between the hair, the dress and the flowers. I love botanical gardens. What a smart idea to stop and make the drive less long.

ReplyDeleteYour photos are so lovely! They're different from the normal poses fashion bloggers use (:
ReplyDeleteCould you share with us how you learnt how to use SLR cameras when you first started blogging? I find it personally so confusing and technical.
@Anonymous, I might try to write a post on photography one day which would hopefully be thorough but for my transition from basic digital to SLR was slow. I went from a digital to a non-digital but with a basic lens (wide focus point, etc), I got really comfortable with that camera before I got a nicer one or a nicer lens. I don't have a process or a way I learned other than by doing and only having one new difficulty at a time--you know? It would have been really hard to go from basic to a fancy SLR with prime lens, but there were many baby steps in between for me.
ReplyDeleteI think if it's too technical and too many options, start with the auto and default settings and change one thing at a time. Like use your auto focus but slowly adjust the aperture. Maybe get comfortable with one aspect before you start going fully manual?
Gorgeous garden.those roses are very pretty and so vibrant, it contrasts well with the blue of the dress.
