The Bee Has Quit The Clover

"Over then, come over, for the bee has quit the clover, And your English summer's done..."
Rudyard Kipling

I avoid booties cause I've got short legs that usually spawn Scully jokes from my friends; since I love Scully and the X-files I don't mind the jokes, but I don't see a reason to emphasize my shortness. Which is what ankle boots do--emphasize the shortness. But in fall and winter I get jealous of those "cool girls" who manage to look effortlessly awesome in their studded, buckled, and beaten-up boots and I end up trying to duplicate the look. And besides if Scully could rock an over-sized trench coat and jackets with massive shoulder pads, then I think I'll be ok with some leg-shortening boots.

This post reminded me of the fact that when I wear ankle boots one of my sisters tends to comment, "You look like a bug." Haha. I usually am tempted to wear ankle boots with a dress or skirt so I don't know if that contributes to the fact. You look lovely in the boots! I am not familiar with Scully and the X-files, but I love your boots. And your dress is very nice especially the collar. Have a lovely day!

The boots look great, seriously, no worries there. And I think a comparison to Scully is a compliment. Everyone loved her in that show.
The outfit is amazing. I love that dress and those nylons so much. You come up with the most creative and fun outfits. If only more people dressed like you. :-)

My philosophy? If you like it, then wear it. I don't believe in these 'rules' that people are always coming up with in regards to fashion - I think they are normally BS. (Also, you look lovely! And I love the tights. :D)

For the longest time I was terrified to even attempt to ankle boots - I'm on the chubby side and not particularly tall either, so I was always worried they would make my legs look like tree trunks, then one day I just couldn't resist anymore and bought a pair and I fell in love. They're now a wardrobe staple of mine, and they look damn good on me, even if I do say so myself!
Forget the rules, they were made to broken after all!

I've always wondered why I didn't like ankle boots like that one me (I mean docs and slightly taller boots are fine) but now I know why. You look super cute here though and I love the tights! <3

Agree with Emily and Nicole. :-)

Plus, you may be short (like me! shorty solidarity!) but your legs are not short. Plus they're great legs so what the heck. I think those boots look grand on you!
