It might have begun in childhood with an aspiration to become Belle with enormous walls lined with books and a rolling ladder to appreciate them on (reinforced in adolsence by Professor Higgin's library in My Fair Lady), but now even when not accompanied by a floor-to-ceiling bookshelf I find myself really liking the look of ladders in the home.
