Outfit: November Walks

Although it's certainly getting brisk in these parts, more than ever it feels good to get outside and escape into nature for a bit. My e-mail account is flooded with news of sales, everything online seems full of drama and urgency, so it feel very refreshing to briefly unplug and tune out and just appreciate my surroundings. It reminds me of an Anne Frank quote that has been on my mind lately, "I've found that there is always some beauty left--in nature, sunshine, freedom, in yourself; these can all help you.” When the sounds and busy-ness of the world grow too loud and distracting, it's good to step back--to step outside and find the beauty you've been ignoring. The leaves have mostly fallen by now, the once bright orange and copper fading to brown and crunching underfoot. Frost lingers in the fields shadowed by the woods; its delicate crystals sparkling like glitter when you carry a crisp leaf into the light. There is birdsong and the sounds of squirrels rifling through the underbrush, but mostly it is quiet and still and both are fleeting. Too soon the sun will sink beneath the horizon line and it will be time to return home to the noises and worries of modern life...

I went through a spiked jewelry phase when I was at university and although I haven't bought any spiked rings recently, I still like my quirky jewelry with an edge so these Momocreatura axe earrings from The Pommier are pretty perfect in my eyes. They're subtle without being staid. The Pommier is full of interesting, handmade accessories from around the world.
