A Spring Outfit & My Novelty Purse Addiction

I like styles reminiscent of a bygone era and made classic by the passage of time (I mean there was an age when this dress length was edgy or trendy!), but I also really like my novelty purses as well. I like my little red purse that looks like a lobster, my radio handbag with a built in speaker, and yes my little wicker purse in the shape of a pineapple. As quirky as these are, they too have their roots in history, many of the modern novelty purses we see today are inspired by vintage designs. Novelty purses were all the rage in the 1920s and you can still find vintage wicker purses on Etsy or eBay in the shape of monkeys or fish or turtles--dubbed wicker "pet" purses. My latest novelty purse is also a good nod to my current location--shortly after we took these pictures we jetted off on a family holiday to Hawaii! It's been too many years since I've had a chance to visit Oahu and Thomas has never been, so I'm quite excited to show him where my family used to live and my old high school. I think the toughest part of this trip will have to be coming back home afterward! It's always difficult to say goodbye to paradise, although knowing that spring should be coming to full swing in Ireland should be good incentive to come back home. daffodil road daffodil road-12
