When I was younger my sister and I used to fight over our signature color--we both wanted to claim red and weren't interested in sharing the color! It was such a random argument since we weren't very aware of signature looks and our closets definitely weren't dominated by one color, but we had got it into our heads that one of us ought to be able to "claim" red and the other wasn't having it. These days I wouldn't put up much of a fight for red, but yellow is becoming more and more of an unconscious signature for me. I'm still drawn to wearing loads of colors, but yellow is beginning to be the color I feel most "me" in. Sometimes I think I should focus in on that feeling and turn my closet into a mostly monochrome of yellow (with a few exceptions) rather than the hodgepodge of color and pattern it currently is. But it's hard to fully commit to one color when so many others have their unique appeal--red always feels powerful, blue is refreshing, white seems a necessary spring and summer thing, and what redhead doesn't wear green occasionally, and even pink is growing on me! You get the idea! But slowly and surely, yellow is still coming out king in my wardrobe--I recently hunted down a pair of yellow trainers and have been contemplating getting a yellow swimsuit. How do you feel about signature colors; is committing to one color smart and stylish, or should we all keep mixing it up? Dedicated to my love of yellow, here are a few of my yellow favorites right now. Maybe this is the year I go full on banana!

Yellow is a beautiful colour to accent! I love it, especially for spring! ❤️❤️

In spanish there a saying that goes: "The girl who yellow wears, on her beauty relays" 😜❤
ReplyDeleteI love the idea of signature colour but it would be near impossible for me to choose one.
ReplyDeleteAs redhead (by choice) I love different shades of green on me, years ago I hated purple and now I'm loving it, red was always "my" colour... so as much as I love the idea I'll probably stick to "signature palette" (Autumn colours) :)
Choosing my style palette has helped me in so many ways. It helps me focus on what I am going to buy and allows me to interchange pieces bc they all go well together. My hair is black and I won't change my hair color but I love that you have that versatility. You must be having so much fun! xox
ReplyDeleteI am in the "signature palette team" :) I am not a redhead but I am the autumn type and I love how the colors go perfectly together. Yellow and green, red and green, red and brown, yellow and brown, purple and beige... It would be too hard to choose one :)
ReplyDelete"Full banana." [rimshot] :D
ReplyDeleteYellow has also grown on me and has gradually made it into every aspect of my wardrobe in one way or another (I'm most fond of mustard yellow). I think I also unconsciously have a signature palette, but I don't necessarily think dedicating your wardrobe entirely to one colour is a great idea - though we see the difference in pieces, to everyone else, they all look the same because they only see the colour. I love the phrase, "full banana" though! And your outfit is beautiful
ReplyDeleteYou look fabulous in yellow, but personally, I cannot pull it off. A single signature color is far too limiting for me, but I stick to four main colors--blue, green, white, and black.
ReplyDeleteYellow is my absolute favorite! I love this outfit!

After having 8 children, I lost weight and needed to buy new clothing. I found myself more and drawn to navy blue, and most of my "new" (mostly used) wardrobe is navy dresses. I still like other colors, too, but I find myself more drawn to navy and definitely feeling more "me" in navy. I also am happy to be back to dresses, as in between the first baby and the eighth, I stopped wearing dresses as there wasn't much I could nurse in, and I swtiched to blouses and skirts. I'm a dress person, though, and in navy dresses I felt like myself again.
ReplyDeleteI love yellow, red has always been my colour but yellow has crept up on me in the last few years and so has orange. My siblings prefer green and blue so I am free to take the sunset shades which most of my wardrobe is made up up
ReplyDeleteThis is such a cute outfit, love your yellow dress

I couldn't intentionally limit myself like that. However I am mostly drawn to navy blue and mustard.
ReplyDeleteEven though my favorite color is green and I have a decent amount of green clothes, I genuinely love all colors and think it's a lot of fun messing around with the color wheel. So I personally wouldn't want to limit myself to even my favorite color. :)
