I was looking through some of the film I shot while in Japan. Big mistake. Now I keep thinking about going back, in the spring, for the cherry blossoms. It is quite unrealistic. But the vision persists.
The photographs did remind me of how atmospheric I used to be with my shots. I framed all the pictures of friends (and strangers) with whatever elements were about: branches, windows, etc. There were always these blurred foreground shapes and objects that added depth to the portraits. So, here I am experimenting with that element again.

Outfit details:
H&M shirt
Shop Mamie dress
Walmart tights
Marc by Marc Jacobs necklace
Bloch wedges via Giltfuse
i love that second shot! and may i say, having read your blog on google reader for the longest time, that the blog itself is quite gorgeous!
ReplyDeletethe background is lovely.
Ooooh mysterious branches... mystery, hauntings... ha ha. I like the way your tights subtly match your top. And red lips, red bow necklace. Lovely!
ReplyDeleteA very charming outfit (and post in general!). For some reason, you look like a character in a storybook...
Random: I think the red bow in your outfit drew my eyes to the red sunglasses Nasha is wearing in the icon on the right... which made me immediately wonder: What has Nasha been doing lately? ;)
I hope you have a whimsical day!
Que guapa!!!! i love the dress and the necklace, it's so so perfect!!! and photos are beautiful... kisses
ReplyDeleteHi beauty, these pictures are beautiful, and in particular, the fourth picture is stunning--I love the hazy background, it reminds me of some of the early shots from the movie, The Tin Drum (which I feel like I've mentioned before on your blog!)
ReplyDeleteI just read through some of my old journals from when I lived in Romania and France and I was also am filled with a longing to go back that seems near impossible! What to do...
Jenny
I adore your necklace and nail varnish!
ReplyDeletex
Awsome pictures as usual.Especially those you are behind the branches. They look more artistic!
ReplyDeleteThose first two pictures are amazing!
ReplyDeleteNow I'm pining for cherry blossoms as well. As a consolation, I will admire the garbage bag stuck in the tree branches outside my living room window.
ReplyDeleteBeautiful. Makes me want to find some woods around here, the biggest downside to living in the city.
ReplyDeletei was in Japan for only two weeks but I absolutely loved the atmosphere there.
ReplyDeleteI love the colours and feel of these photos. I especially like those in which you are moving.
What a lovely set. I think your pictures are so so so romantic and aspirational. Too pretty.
ReplyDeletexx

ReplyDeleteThese photos are so beautiful. I love the dream-like quality your images have.
ReplyDeleteAnd that bow-tie necklace is just adorable!
Love all the polka-dots. I always love polka-dots, everywhere!!! :)
ReplyDeleteyay for polka dots! and the framing definitely adds an air of mystery...
ReplyDeletei adore your outdoor/treesy outfit posts! They add a nice ethereal quality to your pics, like the branches and dry grasses make me feel all nostalgic, especially when you do your great all black outfits with pops of color. So cute!
ReplyDeleteI love the feel of depth that the branches give. You look lovely by the way.
ReplyDeleteI would love to see some of your outfits surrounded by Cherry blossom but I do realise that asking you to fly to Japan may a little bit too much! Fantastic post, I can almost hear some kind of haunting melody playing in the background as I look at these.
ReplyDeleteI love the way you photographed these, it's so creative, but doesn't distract from the outfit (which by the way is also amazing!)
ReplyDeletethese photos are beautiful! i like the blurred elements- i always love that in photos even if it is technically 'wrong' sometimes. but you're always a very good photographer!
ReplyDeleteoh, and the bow and polka dot combo in your outfit is adorable. ~joelle
Love the first one ♥
ReplyDeleteGorgeous photos, as always. You take some of the best outfit pics I've seen, darling! Which nail polish is that, by the way? You've got so many pretty ones - perhaps you could start listing them as well as the actual clothes you are wearing? I'm sure I'm not the only one who would appreciate it :)
ReplyDeleteLove the dress! The pattern of the buttons are really in right now...I dig it.
ReplyDeleteI am a big fan of twiggy trees and branches...love these shots! and that dress is adorable!

I love the pop of the red bow among the black pieces! Cherry blossoms are indeed super pretty, but there's something quite lovely about the naked branches in your pictures too.
ReplyDeleteadorable outfit. that necklace is so cute!!!
ReplyDeleteReally?
ReplyDeleteIts only been two days?
Oh, then excuse my rubbish time telling, this is why I don't wear a watch. Pointless.

I love these pictures of you! You always have an artistic perspective in your photographs, but these are quite exquisite.
ReplyDeleteThe first one is my favorite <3
I tend to loose track of my original ideas when doing an outfit shoot, and all of those creative plans just get lost in an effort to get a decent picture :p That said; it is very cold here on Norway now. Maybe spring will get better :)

These are really wonderful, almost cinematic. The color contrasts are so striking! Also those shoes are rapidly becoming one of my favorites of yours. :D
ReplyDeleteLove all of the pictures, but the second and fourth ones are my favorites.
ReplyDeleteI admire how you frame your shots, and how you use so many natural elements. If I were to try to climb trees or pose amongst branches in nice clothes, I'd doubtlessly fall into a tangle of brambles or snag myself on something pointy.
great photos! very pretty!

ReplyDeleteThat first one looks very Japan-esque. I love the branches in the foreground.
ReplyDeleteWhich part of Japan were you in? I bet you could get some beautiful fashion shots with the cherry blossoms in Kyoto or thereabouts. Just try to avoid the drunken blossom viewers if you do go!
You never cease to amaze me so much. I love the pictures so much. I love the form of that dress and that necklace is so adorable! You are one true inspiration. Love it! Now if I ever see cherry blossom trees I am going to think back of this post! Haha

The framing and soft focus are genius.
ReplyDeleteI really do love the things you come up with.
And your hair is getting silky and long. I love it.

ReplyDeleteWhat nail polish are you wearing?

ReplyDeleteI love how you don't wear black all that often, but when you do, you still manage to make the look romantic. The right amount of details and pops of color do just the trick..!
