I've always considered myself a "bag" girl, but some time in college I stopped collecting interesting, vintage purses and just opting for totes. About a month ago I needed a bag for a nice evening out and realized how sorely my "purse wardrobe" was lacking. There wasn't a single bag that I felt was nice enough for special occasions and the majority of the purses I did own bored me. So, I did the only logical thing: took all the purses I couldn't see myself using up and donated them to the local thrift shop and then began hunting for bags that spoke to me. Since then I've found a number of handbags I'm actually excited to use.
This particular one is perhaps my favorite new find. A Bill Blass perforated leather handbag with chain strap. It is so wonderfully glam and large enough to carry my camera, which is practically a miracle. As a pale, pale person I like to wear gold pieces because I feel it brings warmth to my skin. I've actually had it for a couple of weeks now, but I tend to forget to photograph what purses I am using...

I love your ring.
ReplyDeleteI can totally relate to you, I am totally bored with most of my bags and when I want to get a new one everyone is sure to tell me how many I already have! for instance I want to get the Scarlet Johanson tote for Mango where the incomings revert for Haiti, but if I get that now I can totally see my boyfriend telling I have enough bags and that he actually gave me one last week!
ReplyDeleteoh and that bag is sure lovely.
plus thank you for wearing that dress, it reminds me how long it's been since I wore mine :|
x

Love the bag! I've been using a thrifted Kate spade bag for some time but the strap is starting to break. I think I'm gonna go back to my Marc bag. They always super soft leather but so heavy!

I hear you on the purse problem. I used to be always on the lookout for good bags, and amassed quite a collection. Now...all the bags I like are too expensive. Hah! Maybe I'll try Gilt. :)
ReplyDeleteI am a purseaholic, but am picky than you would think when you look at my very large collection of new and vintage purses. LOVE LOVE your jacket and bag.

i'm currently on the hunt for nice handbags, too. i've been browsing gilt religiously for the right one to pop up.
ReplyDeleteThe last photo made me giggle. I love your new snazzy purse! I am still very much a purse girl, :). Isn't your camera a Canon Rebel? I can't find a purse big enough to carry mine in that will not flop it around in there lol. Just wondering how you protect it :). Love you sweets!

I love how you always incorporate the little detail shots of your outfit, so we get the whole deal. The golden accessories really come together.
ReplyDeleteAaaand it's almost unnecessary to say that the last picture made me giggle. *slump*

I love the little perforated detail on the purse! It kinda mimics the boldness of your jacket that's softened by your really pretty dress :)
ReplyDeleteLove the dress! I totally agree with the gold thing, too... although as a "cool toned" person, I"m supposed to wear silver, I just feel like gold brightens and enlivens...
ReplyDeleteI love these photos, that last one is my favourite, it's so fun!
ReplyDeleteLove the dress too, such a pretty print. I tend to wear more silver jewellery but gold definitely looks very lovely on you!

ReplyDeleteBags are something I have a really difficult time with. I own so many, but only have a select few that I actually carry due to the way they feel on my body. Yours looks great! And I love your ring. xo.

ReplyDeleteYour outfit matches perfectly, with the gold and black bag, shoes, jacket. I've never been much of a 'bag lady' but at the moment I would really like a new one.

I lovvvvee your ring! I am the same way, I've become too addicted to shoes to focus on getting a good bag(s).
ReplyDeleteI'm so glad that you just said you hunted for bags that "spoke" to you. My mom laughs at me all the time for saying I have to find bags/shoes/clothes/etc. that speak to me. I'm glad to find someone else who fully understands.
ReplyDeletei have fallen in complete and utter love with the last photo. love. love. love.
ReplyDeleteReally gorgeous bag; the perforations make it. I love the studded heels also. Great job!

ReplyDeleteBoy! Reading this older post, I really REALLY get what you wrote re: handbags ... I have one in particular that was appropriate for a certain time of my life, when I was trying to conform to what people around me thought I should be, and - yeahhh I guess she needs to find a new life!
