Paris When It Sizzles

Another one of my favorite Audrey Hepburn films is the underrated "Paris When It Sizzles." The movie follows Audrey as Gabrielle Simpson, a secretary hired to help writer Richard Benson complete an entire film script in two days. To get over his writer's block, Richard begins imagining different scenarios and mentally casts Gabrielle as his leading lady. The viewer is swept between reality and fantasy until the two begin to blur together, a confusion that also descends upon Gabrielle and Richard. It is a very light-hearted caper and not to be taken seriously, but rather to be viewed as a tongue-in-cheek jab at Hollywood productions.

  13. Haha this film was so quirky and random! I loved all the cameo appearances, like when William Holden was talking about Marlene Dietrich and suddenly she came from nowhere.

  27. I loved Audrey in The Nun's Story - she truly proved her mettle in such a serious, pensive role necessary to maintain such a long movie. Couldn't get into Breakfast at Tiffany's, though. She's brilliant but the script made Holly Golightly strangely innocent. It added charm when she had enough and really neutered her character from the original story.

  35. Would you believe I actually own this film, but have never seen it? I bought it as part of a collection, and all the others: Funny Face, Breakfast at Tiffany's, Roman Holiday and Sabrina are some of my absolute favorite films EVER and I think I let them overshadow the little one I had never seen.

By George, I think it's time to watch it. Thanks, Rebecca!
