Leave These Lulling Shores

We paid a visit to the Pacific Ocean a few days ago and while it was chilly and misty, I really enjoyed it. The fog covered everything in a grey blanket so that when you walked a short distance things behind you started to disappear while others before you started to appear out of seemingly nothingness. Even on brisk days there is nothing quite so wonderful as walking barefoot at the beach. I also had a lot of fun trotting around and taking pictures of the mistiness. While I was adjusting my tripod a man came up and asked me to take one of his wife stating, "I could take the picture myself, but I figure you being a photographer..." I just smiled and agreed to take their picture, meanwhile thinking I hardly merit the title!

I have to say, too. I came across your blog randomly and I've fallen in love with it: the pictures, the D.I.Y., the clothes, everything. You've inspired me to start my own blog, and so far I'm having fun doing it, so thanks!

  23. awww that is so sweet <3 I love all of these pics, I wish I was at a beach right now, these pics are so inviting. Foggy beaches also make me think of England. My Grampa was from England and he used to love our beaches in the US because they were sunny and sandy, the beaches there are all pebbles (apparantly, but I have never been) and cloudy. But when I see a beach when it is the opposite of what I am used to, it makes me think I am in a story or something.

Anyway, sorry for the book, great look and pics today!

  43. really pretty. your outfit is quite simple but you look beautiful! how do you prop your tripod on the sand? Is it a bit difficult? and how do you protect your camera from the moisture and sand? questions questions...

  44. Hey, I went there too! I went with family to see the Kite Festival on shore just off of Greyland, where we were staying. It was sort of difficult to see some of the kites with all that mist and fog in the way, but it was still a really nice weekend getaway.
...And maybe I really just have a thing for photos that are out of focus, but my favorite photo in this post would have to be the second to last one. Je l'aime!

How do you make your photos move? Or overlap multiple photos?

  49. The second-to-last photo is absolutely beautiful. I love the contrast of the bleak, colorless sky with the substance of the shoreline and, of course, you! Very symbolic and pensive.
