Getting to Versailles was a bit of a journey involving three different trains (why is the most convenient route oh-so-inconveniently closed?) and epic qeues, but the Sun King's Chateau was worth every obstacle. From the moment you pass the gilded gates your eyes are treated to a visual feast that doesn't let up for a second. It was bright, warm day and sunshine streamed through the palace windows highlighting every inch of velvet wallpapper, naked cupids, and crystal chandeliers. It's hard to not admire the extravagance, although the means used in this creation were deplorable...Fortunately, the only excess I indulged while there was the number of pictures I took (200+).
