Paris When It Sizzles

As the temperatures rise here in Paris it becomes increasingly apparent while those Parisians with the means escape this city in August. Hot air rising to our top-floor apartment (no elevator, ahem) drives us to the slightly cooler outdoors even after a day of exhaustive sightseeing. Luckily, there are a number of parks to temporarily escape to; complete with street vendors and oh-so-refreshing ice cream. I took these pictures at the park near us which is complete with psuedo ruins, man-made waterfalls, and numerous twisting paths.

I've been very strict in my purchases so far in Europe; I've been here for more than three weeks and I can count all the non-food/travel purchases on one hand. This dress, these flats, and the new nail polish are among those few and far between purchases. The shoes are a nice break from my other pairs, although the studs are quite noisy--preventing me from being the French spy I was clearly born to be...

  4. Le sigh! For a great fondue experience go to Refuge des fondus on Rue des Trois Freres in Montmartre. Also, if you have time to check out the Puces then the one at Clignancourt has great inspiration!

    Have fun!

  11. Love, love, love that dress! I'm very impressed with your self-control; I don't think I'd be able to manage that if I were in Europe :)

  12. aw, love the collar on your dress and the studs on your shoes. we were just talking in French class about how a very few percentage of French homes have air, and how almost none of the hotels have elevators! it's crazy to think of how different the US is. Maybe that's the French secret to keeping trim. Lord knows Americans need all the help they can get on that topic! :)

  13. Quite surreal to see you wearing Primark, but you chose well! So jealous of the Parisian weather, I'm tempted to escape there too after seeing your posts! I swear we get 3 different climates in one London day, so annoying. Enjoy the rest of your stay!

  15. Oh my! When I saw this dress,I was like wow,its the same one I tried on in primark. However due to the fact that am lacking in size, and primark only start at size 8 it didn't fit me-to my utter dissapointment. It does look lovely on you though-ahhh the envy.

The description of the park sounds wonderful,I hope one day I can visit Paris again. It really is beautiful.

  16. I have been finishing up my finals for summer courses and the thing I missed the most is not being able to read your blog. I am still catching yp but just wanted to drop by and say that the dress is lovely and the blue vintage dress you wore a few posts back is just perfect. :)

  21. I’m french, i’m live in Paris. My english is probably so bad but i read your blog everyday since 1year. I like your look, sometimes I'm surprised because we have the same clothes H & M

I like to read your comment in Paris. In august all Parisians are in vacations ! I like this month but there are always parisian hurry, have you noticed that Parisians rush down forever ? I’m like them, I run all day but I do not know why! And I forget that I live in a beautiful city just minutes from Sacré Coeur.

I am eager to see the next place you'll see! If you love museums I advise the museum “Quai Branly” and my favorite museum “d’Orsay”. It’s an old train station transformed into a museum. I love this place and the paintings !

I hope you'll enjoy your stay in Paris!

  35. You look like a parisienne in that dress, so elegant. And those flats go so well with that collar/dress. Also love that you wear this gold nail polish with it (beautiful color), it softens the contrast of your overall black and white (and reddish hair) look, which brings a subtle and warm touch to it. Very nice.
