NYC Day One: IFB Conference

It's been a crazy few days! I basically landed in the States and headed up to NYC. I went straight from the airport to the IFB Conference dragging my suitcase along with me. So, as you might imagine I was hardly the most glamorous person there with my airplane hair and flat shoes! Still, I chose a dress covered in mirrors, making me not quite a wallflower...
I only saw a wee bit of the conference but the speakers I heard were rather entertaining. You can actually read my live-blogs from the event here, here, and here. They're just fun little notes jotted down right as each speaker went along and hopefully can give you a sense of what the audience who was there was hearing.
Despite my jet-lag the after party was quite fun and it is always awesome to get the opportunity to mingle with other bloggers. I had a great time catching up with Erin of Calivintage and talking to Keiko and Kimberly (among others). I also enjoyed meeting some new-to-me bloggers. While some people were heading out afterwards for more fun, I ended up going to my hotel room and crashing. After all, it was only the first night and I knew there was even more NYFW madness to come.

  10. You look wonderful! I love the way you paired a mirror-covered dress with studded flats. (And I'm so bummed that I saved up my pennies only to realize that dress was no longer on the Built by Wendy website.) I hope you're having a blast in New York!

  23. I love reading your blog and you look as lovely here as you always do, thankyou for the wonderful and inspiring daily posts!
I was interested to read your live blog. But wasn't sure about the remark "40s aren't "in", only if you're 40 and look 30". What? Maybe I missed the point but this doesn't seem worthy. Try substituting "black" and "white" for "40" and "30" and see how insulting this comment is then...

  24. @Carolyn, I left a comment on your blog too, but in brief: the liveblogs aren't my opinion, they're just notes of what that speaker was saying; it wasn't writing a post it was jotting down what was coming out of that person's mouth as they said it. And Amy of the Cut was actually saying there isn't anything wrong with being 40, but that when the magazines praised people in their 40s it was women who had gone to some extreme to not look 40. She doesn't agree with that message of plastic surgery/botox as being the way of keeping your 40s good.

  27. "god don't like ugly"

God likes the Pope... he's not beautiful. Neither was Mother Theresa. I bet there are a lot of pastors who aren't "beautiful" either.

God loves anyone who lets Him into their hearts.

    just FYI

  28. @Anonymous, God also has a sense of humor. And beauty is in the eye of the beholder. FYI
