Caped Crusader

This cape from Temperley London was the piece I was most excited to win. I went through quite a cape phase last year and this black, but not-so-basic one was the perfect addition to my collection. Luckily for me as well, the weather in Virginia is perfect for capes like this one. Fall has been quite windy, but not too cold, so I don't have to wear my heavier coats most days. I do think I need a tall pair of gloves to keep my arms warm while wearing capes like this one, but I'm still on the hunt for the perfect vintage pair of those.

  1. TALL GLOVES! THAT'S IT! I've been trying to figure out I'll wear capes in the coming months without having my arms freeze to death, and I feel like a total ditz for not having thought of this :) To be fair, I'm new to the cape-world! And your new Temperley friend is absolutely perfect!

  2. I found beautiful cashmere long gloves at Barney's which someone gifted for me. They were lovely.

I think you could get liquid ones at a steal, but if you're searching for vintage, it may take a ton of searching. I don't doubt, though, that when you do find them, they will be astoundingly charming.

I love the idea of capes, but it gets much too cold here in Detroit, much too fast to wear capes for more than just a few weeks a year. So sadly, despite how much I love the idea of them, I will likely never own one. Esp, because we are probably moving to Honolulu next year. *You are welcome to visit your old home and stay with me for free any time!*

  10. You may not have the perfect vintage pair but may I suggest H&M?
I recently brought a lovely green cape with a fur collar and had the same problem with exposed arms. Luckily whilst in H&M I discovered (And then very quickly proceeded to buy) the most perfect pair of long velvet gloves with little bows on them. Not only are my arms not exposed but they make me feel like a glamorous 1950s siren ;)
