Saturday Remix

My absolute favorite purchase in 2010 has to be this Triptych dress which I got at The Olive Shoppe. It's a perfect example of my style: classic lines, but with a quirky/off-beat detail (in this case the growling panther). I've worn it many, many times and always a little different. I think that is the key to stretching your wardrobe: don't be afraid to repeat pieces, but don't forget to be creative when you do! Here's a sampling of how I've worn the dress in the past year.

  1. Serisouly that dress is so cool. It's really different from everything out there, and that's why I like it so much.

  5. I like it best with the yellow skirt, but that could just be because I love that skirt whatever you wear it with! x

  7. I'm new to your blog so maybe you've addressed this before and I missed it...but how do you tuck the skirt of the dress into the yellow skirt so that it doesn't bunch up and look awkward? It looks beautiful, but I tried it with a skirt and dress I own and can't get it to look like yours!

  8. @Keisha, it's combination of elements: mini dresses obviously are better than longer dresses. That particular skirt is leather, so the structure of it doesn't show any bunches; although I've never had an issue with bunching with this dress. If I do have an issue I usually just use a few safety-pins to shorten a hem or pull a flared skirt into a more pencil shape.

  12. I love how you spun this interesting and unique dress into so many different looks. I love it with the black collared button down shirt, black tights and heeled booties. Adorable.

  13. This dress is great, it's my favourite one that you remix. It's so quirky, especially with the panther on the front.

  14. I love this dress, and many of these looks, but I do question a little bit the "remix" idea. Is it remixing if it's essentially the same look but with different shoes and a jacket? Obviously it's different, but the fundamentals of the look are the same. There are some ways you've worn the dress here that are real remixes (to me) because they change the nature of the dress, such as the buttoned up looks (creating a wild/demure contrast) or the summery looks (surprising hits of colour) but some of the black tights and black shoes combos would fall for me into "wearing your clothes" rather than "remixing."

Just a thought and not a criticism. I do really enjoy this remix series! : )

  17. @Emily, the post is a remix, b/c they are different since while there are definitely similarities nothing is repeated. This whole Saturday remix though is to feature ways I have worn it in the past, not to show to as many ecelectic looks as possible, but merely point out how items do get worn & varied a little each time. For a really ecelectic remix of this dress where it is transformed each time, there's this post:

Really, partly the point of this post is to not be redundent & do it wildly styled again, but to show how it has been worn.
