We Anticipate What's To Come And Ignore What Is Here

I don't usually enjoy the combination of red, white, and black because, well...it's so predictable. However, I received this awesome vintage dress from my new sponsor Kiss My Button Vintage and needed to winterize it somehow. I rather how like this particular outfit turned out, but I still think I will be avoiding that color combination as much as possible in the future. Anyway, how cool is this dress? It's quite outside of my usual silhouette and the neck detail is something I've never experimented with before. There's a lot of unique pieces at Kiss My Button; which is a Facebook shop. I really love all of their swimwear, although with the current temperatures such things are almost painful to look at. That groundhog did predict an early spring, right?

  1. Ooh, you're right. It really isn't your normal silhouette. But the vintage vibe of it is in line with your aesthetic, if that could be said? The neckline gives a nice allure to the piece, without revealing much at all--which really elevates the maturity and sophistication of the entire dress and look.

Sure, red, black and white is predictable, but so is pink, black and white, and so is any bold color with black and white. I think it's really what you do with it. I don't think it would be such a powerful combination if it weren't bold, and if it didn't strike the eye. Because it's so bold, not a lot of people will dare to wear it. So yes, it's predictable, but that by no means has to define it as common.

This is a wonderful look, Rebecca!

  3. The dress is super cute, but I really love the shoes!! And yes, I agree that red, black & white is sort of predictable, but it's a color combo that I LOVE. Plus it doesn't hurt that I have a TON of those 3 colors in my wardrobe and that I'm a member of a crazy marching band called Noisician Coalition and those are our group colors - so I wear those 3 colors together A LOT.

  6. I think a slightly dark yellow color would work really well with the dress as well. It is a very beautiful dress!

  8. @Amma Brown, they're a brand called Girly-Girly, but I added the black cap-toe myself, they were originally plain white heels.

  10. This outfit is very cute, far from predictable!

But I know what you mean. My high school colors were red, black and white so I'm sure you can understand that I'm quite over that combination.
