This dilapidated door is in a line of other doors, all of similar condition built right up against the moat wall. The locks are rusty and I'm extremely curious to see what lies behind them...so sometimes I'm tempted to force my way inside to do a little exploring. However, the openings at their feet make me worry that raccoons and the like might be all that populate the interior now. Add to that the disconcerting noises I kept hearing coming from within while I took these pictures and a friend's theory of a secret lab hidden there underground and well, my imagination runs wild. In addition to my largely unfounded fears, I have too much respect for locks and closed doors to actually force my way inside. So, I suppose my curiosity will have to remain unsated for now and I might never know what actually lies behind these intriguing doors.
i adore the dress, and the location of the pictures is so cool!!!! the brick wall looks amazing!!

Ohh la la that dress is just adorable. Loving the lace overlay.

Such an interesting location for a shot! I would be intrigued by the locked doors too, although I similarly would never be brave enough to enter.
ReplyDeleteLove this dress too!
You take photos in the cutest places. Lovely dress.

Gorgeous photos and outfit as always. I absolutely love your hair like that, so cute. And the dress + shoes, are totally divine.
ReplyDeleteooh, a secret lab? Sounds fascinating I am seriously obsessed with old buildings, I have apparently watched too many movies. xx veronika
When I was in college, we discovered that my school, which was built in the early teens and survived through 2 world wars, actually had a system of steam tunnels leading to an underground bomb shelter with beds and stuff. One of my girl friends discovered a popped lock to a grate and we entered one night and explored a bit. There were lots of gates leading to off shoot tunnels, many of them were locked... I wanted to go into all of them, but we couldn't get through. We eventually found a shelter room with nothing but mounds of dirt and discarded alcohol bottles from other "explorers" who had gotten there... I heard later that one of the biochem majors concocted an acid cocktail to dissolve the locks on some of the gates to the other tunnels, but by the time I gathered the courage to check it out, someone had locked the grate we'd gotten in through.
ReplyDeleteI still wonder if that gate led to the bomb shelter under the gym.
I highly do recommend exploring, though, if you can find a way in. There's nothing more exhilarating than urban exploration and capturing it on your camera. Urban decay makes for such a dynamic subject behind the lens.

P.S: I'm giving away a $500 FOLEY + CORINNA bag for my blog's Birthday! Would love to see you joining the fun! :D
I like the dress but I'm afraid my first thought was that it was your bare skin underneath and only the black pockets were barely protecting your modesty! Then I realized it was a nude lining. Whew!
ReplyDeletesometimes some secrets are better left alone. but i'm curious now too :) that dress is great, i love the black lace and unexpected elbow cutouts- so unique. and you hair always looks great braided like that :)

I hope you'll be careful if you do some exploring -- I'd be afraid of walls crumbling and unstable foundations.
ReplyDeleteThis is such a beautiful look, Rebecca! What lipstick are you using in this post? It's the perfect shade and complements your pretty hair color.
i love this dress andthe sheerish look of the top part . it looks sodelicate and prim
ReplyDeleteThat TBA dress is really adorable and looks great on you, especially with that hair!

I know such feelings too, everytime I faced locked doors on abandoned building or somewhere beside the sidewalks. There's some familiar curiousity and hesitation, blended with fears of imagining what might jump to you behind the doors. What an embracing emotions.
ReplyDeleteDespite of the lonely door, your outfit today is a perfect combination of one of my fave dress (look at the details!), beautiful braid, and classic pair of shoes. Can't love you less Rebecca :)

So adorable Rebecca! I wore the other Tba pom pom dress in my latest outfit post, aren't those dresses truly beautiful? Your hair are wonderful, so perfect for this look.
ReplyDeletei looove the bick wall :) is just lovely... it remarks your outfit so well :)
ReplyDeletehi from mexico
I love your hair like that. Are there any good tutoials online that you know of?
ReplyDeleteI love quirky little details on clothes and those elbow holes (that sounds rather weird...) are so cool! :)
ReplyDeleteLovely outfit!
@Anonymous, there are many good tutorials! I made one myself (which might not be the best) & linked to it at the end of this post...
ReplyDeleteI love your hair like that! So pretty. Very intriguing door indeed. It makes for such a mysterious background. And the top of that dress is amazing !
ReplyDeleteGreat dress! And I have no doubt there's a whole city of creepy crawlies living behind that door!
ReplyDeleteVery elegant outfit Rebecca..I love it!! Is the moat a historical site opened to the public?
ReplyDeleteOH i love this outfit! You inspire me to dress up every day! So elegant.
ReplyDeleteAnd...could you slot your camera under the door and take a photo?! the battle between respect for closed doors and curiosity...!
Annahxx
While I'd love to know what lies behind those doors, I (like you) would probably be a bit too wary to force my way in. In any case, this door makes for a really beautiful, decaying sort of background.
ReplyDeleteI've seen that particular TBA dress on a few other bloggers, and I fall in love with it more and more every time I do! You wear it so well; I love the tights you've paired it with.
I really like the dress. When I was younger we used to always go into this abandoned warehouse. It was fun but in reality there wasn't much there. Everything was old, and decaying. It smelled of water damage, and dirt. It was kind of sad.
ReplyDeleteMy Heart Blogged
@Anonymous, the moat is on a military base. It is open to the public & there is a museum. I don't know if the moat itself constitutes as a historical site since it has been adapted & people live & work inside it...
ReplyDeleteYou have the opposite of elbow patches! I suppose it is the other way to solve the problem of holey elbows :)
ReplyDeletebeautiful dress, Rebecca! did you darken your hair? looks great!
ReplyDeletexo
i wander, i wonder
you look stunning! what a perfect place to take a photo. Maybe someone else will leave it open one day so you can peek inside!
ReplyDelete@Ms_SyllyBee, thank you, but no. I haven't colored my hair in a couple of months. :)
ReplyDeleteThose dresses you wear from TBA are simply the most gorgeous dresses. They seem like they're made for you!
ReplyDeleteLOVELY!!!
ReplyDeleteThat dress is so wonderful and whimsical! I love how you paired this dress with minimalism and black!
