One of my favorite "accessories" is definitely a slick coat of red lipstick. Matte red is wonderfully retro and definitely adds spice to even the most mundane outfits. It definitely was a nice pop of color to this palette of black and brown. I'm not accustomed to wearing these colors; black yes, but brown almost never. A trick to growing more comfortable in red lipstick: is to apply it an hour before you actually leave your house. After awhile you'll forget you have it on, so by the time you head out the door you won't be self-conscious of it.

This outfit is so pretty!
ReplyDeleteIt's funny 'cause my comfort zone is brown clothes, but not red lipstick. So almost the entire opposite!

cute shoes...I need to get another pair of summery sandals.
ReplyDeleteI completely agree about the red lippy. If ever I'm feeling a little drab adding red lips always changes my mind.

I love the combination of that cardigan and dress on you.
ReplyDeleteThat's a wonderful idea, to put it on early before you leave so you'll forget about it! Because that is exactly my problem, I always feel like I look like a clown. But then I see other girls wearing it and really admire them. Good post!

such a cute little outfit on you! Love the Cardi!

I love this outfit, it's simple but perfectly sweet. And agreed, red lipstick adds an instant glam factor! You pull it off beautifully!
ReplyDeletei ADORE every aspect of the outfit!! ah :D too dreamy!
ReplyDeleteOoh, great tip! It's funny though, because even when I forget about my red lips someone ALWAYS points it out. It's such a big deal to people, sheesh.
ReplyDeleteI love brown and black together. You never think it would work, but it's actually a really chic combination. (: love what you did with your hair too! <3
I love a good matte red lipstick as well! So many people are scared to wear it so you really stand out in a fun, unique way when wearing it. I love how bold it is, while still being classy.
ReplyDeleteSuch a cute outfit today! I love your dress - especially with the amazing military detailed cardigan!
This outfit is gorgeous! And thanks for the lipstick trick! When I wear it I'm always TOO concious of it :) I also smile in a different way!

I can't get over how beautiful this outfit is!! The dress is really gorgeous. And I like your tip about the lipstick. I need to try that out. I always chicken out and wipe it off before I leave the house.
ReplyDeleteAdorable outfit. I so admire it on other people, especially with a vintage outfit. I've tried it, but I either chicken out before I leave or feel super self-conscious when everyone points it out.
ReplyDeleteI also love your black/brown combination, I was always brought up under the belief that you can't wear the two together, but I love how you pull it off. I might have to start combining them myself.
This oufit is beyond beautiful. The cardigan is just marvelous (golden buttons!), wtf everything is just PERFECT. And those flats man...
ReplyDeleteI love your tip about red lipstick, thanks a lot! I have been wearing it a lot more lately but still feel slightly self-conscious. Love your outfit here, and the lighting of the dusk photos - so pretty! My camera gets grumpy when I try to take photos when it's even slightly dark outside x
