My apologies for looking so wrinkly, but I often take my pictures around sunset and life happens. Ironically, my hair is still quite intact despite the heat and humidity. One of things I really like about milkmaid braids is how they look when they get messy and little pieces start to escape; that's when it looks like the day has run its fingers through my hair. Isn't there something appealing about things and people that look a little worn? Or am I merely attempting to romanticize my wrinkles away?

Outfit details:
love the braids. so cute.

Oooh I thought these shorts were vintage! They need suspenders to add to the vintageness of them!
ReplyDeleteI like the unperfectness of hair do's throughout the day too, some times I pull the baby hours out immediately to get the look right away
Your entire outfit is so dreamy... Love how wonderful your hair looks with the outfit. Especially love the shorts!
ReplyDeleteDespite the wrinkles, I love you shorts! I am too lazy to iron, so I often find my clothes rather wrinkly... And love your hair like that too!
ReplyDeleteI compleeeetely love this! What great shorts, what a fantastic blouse... and of course a wonderful hairstyle!
ReplyDeleteawesome ric rac trim.
ReplyDeleteThis is one of my favorite outfit posts. :) And you're right, life happens. :)

ReplyDeleteI absolutely love this on you! :)
ReplyDeleteOne of the reasons I loved Claudine at School by Colette was how Claudine said that she liked the way she looked with the dark circles under her eye. I thought that was cool because it's true, some people do look good tired. IDK, I could be just romanticizing with you and Colette as well though.
ReplyDeleteCool shorts and the braids are very pretty on you!
ReplyDeleteThese shorts are lovely, i must go check them out in Topshop!
ReplyDeleteyou look so cute. you look like you walked right out of the 70s!

How can anyone not wrinkle in the summer? I haven't figured it out. I love that you have been wearing more shorts lately, it is inspiring me to try it. Tell us a little about your new place! I am sure we are all dying to know.
ReplyDeletethese shorts are amazing, I love the color...and I barely notice the wrinkles ;)
ReplyDeletethe braids, embroidery and colours remind me (i promise you, in the best way possible...) of lederhosen! so cute, yet the heels make it sophisticated..

I like your style very much Rebecca. I don't want to sound unnecessarily inquisitive yet I can't help but wonder what you do to keep fit, what food you eat and avoid eating, and whether you do exercise or not -- because you always look in shape.
ReplyDeleteBeautiful Beautiful! I tried today to do milkmaid style braids and sadly my hair is just like two inches to short. Then I see this blog and you have these perfect braids! It'll take me years to grow my hair out that long. You're lucky gal! :)
ReplyDeletea wrinkle in time is one of my favorite books of all time! love the post reference! those shorts are too cute!
ReplyDeletethese are the cutest shorts I have ever seen!
ReplyDeleteWhere are your Cheap Monday sunnies in these shots?
ReplyDelete@Amberly, haha! good eye, I didn't realize I didn't use any shots with them on! I always have more pics than I use & I just write down what I was wearing, so I guess I cut all of the sunglasses pics out.
ReplyDelete@Anonymous 1:02PM, I'm really flattered you think I look fit! I'm not really active or the best eater (but I come from a really active & healthy family, so I'm measuring myself against people who wake up at 5AM to go running!). I tend to snack a lot on fruit over anything else and only drink water (or smoothies). For exercise I try to walk as much as possible, work-out on an elliptical every so often, and this summer I've been swimming a lot.
ReplyDeleteI don't really avoid any foods, I just try to have things in moderation. As I said before, my family is super-healthy, so while I'm naturally lazy being around them tends to rub off on me.
I definitely get what you mean about slightly messy hairstyles. A tight bun is one thing, but a wispy, loose, bun gives off life and a little mystery...like "What has she been up to?"...or is that just me making excuses for my lazy hairstyling abilities? Haha.
ReplyDeleteI just love the ric-rac on your shorts! Too cute. :-)
I am in love with those shoes, absolutely amazing!

Those are THE CUTEST shorts I've ever seen, and you've styled them perfectly here... I love your hair! xx
ReplyDeleteI love it when you wear shorts or pants and mix it up a bit.
ReplyDeleteAnd I completely agree about the hair thing, you can't manufacture the wisps that appear after a long day.
Love the Shorts

You look so cute with the milkmaid braids! Loving the shorts too, wrinkly or not :b
ReplyDeleteThose red shorts are amazing! I adore the white trim.
ReplyDeleteThe perfect outfit for a hot summer day :) I think wrinkles are good in some cases! a sign that you are, in fact, living your life in these clothes.
ReplyDeleteI love the way you fix your hair.
ReplyDeleteSuch a lovely outfit! What I like the most is the colours, your nailpolish makes it extra interesting!
ReplyDeleteAnd some clothes wrinkle, that's just how it goes, so they're a sign of life lived :) I do like slightly messy hairstyles a lot too, for the same reason.
I'm sad that I can't make the milkmaid braids work, it looks so gorgeous. It seems my hair is too thin.
I don't think I'll ever understand how you get such long hair to stay in those braids! I can't do it.
ReplyDeleteI'm always wrinkly in photos too. It's hard to get shots in the morning because you've got places to be and things to do! We understand.
Completely agree with you! I love the look of a little broken in. It makes you look real.
ReplyDelete@Mallory, haha there's really no special trick--I don't even use hair spray. I think it's just my hair texture. :)
ReplyDeleteThose shorts are adorable!
ReplyDeletenice toe opened bootie Rebecca >_< and I love red orange color♥
