Portland Art Museum

I think you could live rather happily in an art museum. After the museum cafe has closed up a sweet treat could be found in the decadent Roccos. Perhaps the work from the Hudson River School would slake your thirst and a pastoral scene (perhaps Thomas Cole's Arcadia) would be a pleasant place to rest your head. Late night visits to the halls of the Surrealists are to be avoided though, that might lead to loss lead to the blurring of the line between dream and reality...

  5. When I was little I always wanted to go camping at the National Gallery. The lobby has the great quietness of a forest, with tall, dark, marble pillars approximately the height of pine trees all around, and a cold fountain in the middle of it all. I would always try to think up plans to sneak in with all of my camping things (tent, lamp, etc). Whenever I go there I think of that.

(on an unrelated and shamelessly self promotional note, you might just like my little store. It is called VANativeStore.etsy.com and it has just a few late summer things in it... it would be very nice if you would look at it.)

  6. Art museums really are magical, aren't they? And I love how each one has a distinct personality all its own. The jewel-toned walls of the Portland Art Museum remind me a bit of the Frick here in Pittsburgh, which is equal parts cozy and decadent (so very Rococco, you could say)!

And I love this dress of yours! It pops up on your blog from time to time, and I'm always curious to see what styling changes you've made. :)

  9. I'm so happy that you seem to be enjoying your trip to Portland. The PAM is a great place to go to when it gets a little hot outside. I assume you saw 'The Allure of the Automobile' while you were there, I hope you enjoyed it.

  11. I love your outfit, and I very much agree about art museums :)

When I was little one of my favorite books was "The Mixed up files of ms. Basil E. Frankweiler", in which two children run away the metropolitan museum of art.

    That sounds extremely familiar!

.... Did you trim your bangs a little shorter than usual? Or just part them? Either way, I think they look really good that way!

  15. You're a doll. What an awesome museum. I'm all about the plaid shirtdresses. That looks so pretty on you. And your side braid is lovely too.

  16. What an adorable dress! Such a perfect art gallery ensemble... I've wanted to run off and live at an art gallery since I read From the Mixed Up Filed of Mrs. Basil E. Frankweiler as a kid... Have you read that? It's magic... At least I remember it that way! xx

  19. These are such beautiful details! I could DEFINITELY live in a museum, especially considering how much I'd love to be a museum curator and how much I'm hoping to go into an art history program in university next semester :).
    Cute dress!
