A little while ago Modcloth asked me what one of my "New Years Style Resolutions" are. As I've stated before, I'm not a huge one for new year resolutions, but when the question was posed directly to me I did have an answer--experimentation. I try to vary my style from time to time, but I still tend to gravitate to a specific silhouette: fitted on top with a full skirt, very 50s inspired. So, the number one thing I wanted to try was a new silhouette--this dress with the drapey skirt and one shoulder top definitely fit the bill. I threw it on straight out of the box so it's terribly wrinkly, but ironing more wasn't on my list of resolutions...Anyway, the draping reminded me of Grecian draping which I love so much and led to me pulling out this rather statement necklace which I bought when I studied abroad in Greece. I thought it was so lovely and interesting, but naturally it was a bit "too much" for everyday wear and I can count the number of times I've actually used it on one hand. Still, some pieces I keep for memory's sake alone; I'm much more fond of buying jewelry (even if I don't wear it much) when I'm abroad than other more traditional souvenirs.

I love how you wear whatever you want to wear, whenever it suits you. This dress is beautiful but probably not what mot people would think of for a normal day. I want to try and be more adventurous with things like that. It will be my style resolution!
ReplyDeleteWow, this is really different from what you usually wear but you still look lovely! Think my style resolution is to be more mature in my dressing but it does not reflect in my purchases, think I have to work harder.

Great dress and I love how you mixed it up with a bomber jacket. And I love the necklace. So pretty!

That dress is absolutely breathtaking!
ReplyDeleteYou look absolutely STUNNING! Like you, I tend to gravitate towards 1950's styles, but this outfit is making me reconsider...wow. This has to be one of my favorite outfits you've ever worn! Three cheers for sartorial experimentation :)

Fancy lady! It looks great. And with the bomber I think it's totally everyday-wearable.
ReplyDeleteALSO, I bought a one-shoulder top from AA last week on a whim. I haven't worn it yet because when I do I feel like my boob on the strapless side is going to pop out! I think it may be because the material is a flimsy, stretchy cotton, so you may/may not have experienced this same feeling. Though thinking about it, I think it may be purely psychological.
You look lovely and I think your hair really makes this outfit special !
ReplyDeleteOMG!!! You look STUNNING! This shade of green is so YOU, and the dress is beautiful, you look amazing in it. As for the necklace, I definetely think you should wear it more often, you have the perfect hairstyle for it, you know, and it is not so out of place for everyday wear as you think...
ReplyDeleteI love buying things that are wearable on vacation! I love a wardrobe with a story behind it... collected over time.
ReplyDeleteThe necklace is a perfect compliment to that dress. And that color and shape are beautiful on you.

I've always loved the way that emerald green looks on redheads and this dress is no exception! I am also more inclined to buy jewelry when I'm traveling. There's just something really exciting about new jewelry. The necklace is amazing, by the way.
ReplyDeleteyou should wear more of this style, it looks just as good on you as your usual fit and flare (which is my fave as well). this is very "cocktail party" so it's definitely experimenting - you're on the right path with your resolution :)
ReplyDeleteI love the way the back of this dress looks! And that color is so beautiful on you.
ReplyDeleteYou look absolutely stunning here! the colour is perfect with your hair and the shape really suits you. Good resolution! xXx

Even though this look isn't the "norm" for you, I think you look stunning. I love the color, shape and draping in this dress and it looks amazing on you. Bravo for branching out! Though, please don't loose the 50's vibe, it's my fave. ;-)

ReplyDeleteWow the dress and the necklace! Definitely Grecian, it looks amazing! And I think this was the dress a girl from my class wore to a recent formal and I was wondering where it was from ;) Thanks

ReplyDeleteThis may be my favorite of your outfits.
That dress is stunning on you! You look 6ft tall. Simply gorgeous.
ReplyDeleteThis is really different from what you normally wear, but it looks fantastic. The green jewel tone looks great with your coloring, and now that you have a pixie cut I think you could wear that cool necklace a lot more.
