Time Waits For No Man

I have my doubts about people who claim to return home only to find themselves changed while everyone else remained in stasis (as if awaiting for their return). Whenever I re-visit old haunts and homes I'm often surprised by how much change a place has undergone. These pictures were taken on my college campus, in a particular patch of field beyond a running path through the woods that I enjoyed visiting when I attended the school. It's been about three years since then (goodness I'm old!) and so much of the campus has changed--including this area of wilderness that I had thought would remain largely untouched. Of course change is not by nature positive or negative and in this case is a good reminder that the world doesn't wait for us.

  6. That dress is absolutely gorgeous. And I love the location! I feel the same about my college campus...it seems like it changes all the time. Of course I work here, so I don't notice it as much...but still.

  7. Lovely, dreamy photos! I agree with you - it's very seldom that I visit an old haunt only to find it unchanged. Usually, I'm struck by what has changed over time. Even thinking of where I live now - the changes in the last 12 years have been dramatic. I wonder what it would look like to an outsider's perspective.

  8. Yes, especially nature changes so profoundly. I just have been at my parents' last weekend and it struck me, how many views that were common in my schooldays are now blocked by trees that have grown bigger and how others have opened up due to trees and bushes that were removed...

I'd love to see a before pic of your picture spot...

  10. @Teddi, I feel like I'm a different person than I was 3 months ago. I'm someone who feels as if they're constantly changing; I think it's also b/c I'm self-analytical so I notice small things.

  11. What an inspiring post about change. I often find it odd that just as I age every year, so does everyone else and the world. Nothing is ever stagnant. Your dress is really beautiful as well!

  13. "the world doesn't wait for us."
    i love that.
coming from a small town, i get pretty anxious when i go home. running into people and having to explain what i'm doing, or not doing. everything there feels the same. it reaches a standstill. i only ever notice when they start putting up new structures, or taking old ones down.

i love the colors in these photographs. very dreamy.

  14. Love how soft and feminine this looks on you.

I recently revisited my old alma mater too and was surprised by some of the changes (mainly that of all the strange art pieces they installed my senior year that that only one that is gone is the only one I liked).
