Fading Summer

Is summer fading? Even as sparklers flare to life and quickly burn out before eager eyes. Have we reached an end of thin layers--only a breath of cloth between us and gentle breeze or bright sun? Are evening bonfires with friends and libations and laughter drawing to an end as days grow shorter and nights grow colder? I am not quite ready to relinquish my bare legs or diet of fresh fruit and lemonade--so, if summer is fading I hope it leaves us slowly.

Two things that I wish:
Summer wasn't fading...
Sparklers were legal in NY!

You look so ethereal here :)

lovely! I've been dying to take sparkler photos all summer, but I can't find a good safe place in Tokyo. too metropolitan, too many rules, and too crowded:(

LOVE THIS.
Sparklers are so much fun and I love the way the sparks light up the whole frame. Lovely.

Love the magical lighting of these photos! Sparklers are the best. Also, I know you've had it for a long time, but you look absolutely gorgeous with a pixie cut!

I love the writing in this post... There's something so bittersweet about it, like the tart, orange bittersweetness of the last days of youth.

"So, if summer is fading I hope it leaves us slowly."

I love this line...

But you will always have summer in your heart. You have that sort of late summer sort of feel to your personality... something warm and yet also crisp to it. Nostalgic and warm.

with love and aloha, Mae
