These crazy sandals are becoming an essential part of my spring/summer style. It's interesting the way a single accessory starts to reshape your style for a season. These are just such a nice switch from my usual ballet flat routine and make every outfit feel slightly more cool. This look is quite basic: a simple cardigan, a classic striped dress, and yet with these sandals it's elevated beyond a basic preppy style (thank goodness, I'm not a huge fan of looking preppy) into something else. One of my friends has been "daring" me to wear them out around town--as if I required more encouragement to wear something that makes me feel like a rockstar...
I love your fashion style but it's your photography that really makes what you do work. You have such an appreciation of light and depth and balance. And then I read that you set up and take all your own shots. Are you rolling multiple exposures with each set up like, six a second or something like that. I think you should do a video clip on how you set up a shot. thanks, d.
@doug, working on a video of my shooting pics soon actually--altho it might end up more arty than basic show & tell. I have shot 2 previous videos showing me taking pics (with the help of other people of course), the most recent one is here: http://theclothes.blogspot.com/2012/04/stack-of-rust.html I do take multiple exposures--usually 8-10 in a row, mostly gives me more time to get into place & hopefully figure out a non-idiotic expression. There isn't much set up, but I do intend to make a talking video at some point with suggestions for self-timer shots in the style I shoot. It's much harder for me to shoot video though because I can't do that well by myself!
The sandals are perfect!

Those cool sandals really give your outfits edge. Love your dress and vintage cardi. It's a brilliant pop of color.
ReplyDeleteThose sandals though!
