This time of year I always get nostalgic for ballet. It's the annual Nutcracker performances that I used to attend regularly with my mother. I don't care if it's cliche, I'm a sucker for the Nutcracker. Anyway I'm in the mood for the holidays and since this holiday is tied to ballet for me I can't resist sharing these photos by Alfred Eisenstaedt for LIFE magazine. These ballerinas were rehearsing for Swan Lake at the Grand Opera de Paris in 1930. Gorgeous rehearsal space, no?
