One of my suggestions for shopping is to try to imagine each new piece you want to purchase with three different outfits or pieces of clothing already in your closet. I always feel like a good outfit isn't head-to-toe new items, but when new items mix so seamlessly with old ones it was clearly a good decision to get them. Like this cheery yellow jacket; it's part of a co-ord set with matching skirt (that I wore here), but matches so perfectly with my vintage dress and old sunglasses that I feel Clueless level coordination. It's closet kismet. Of course, it's easy enough if you develop a personal palette and everything you buy falls into a set spectrum of colors. I'm not quite there yet, but it's clear my mustard yellow section is growing.
