Romanticizing Early Spring
Happy spring! I’m trying my hand at the old long form video stuff again and I hope you enjoyed this glimpse at what early spring looks like in my corner of the world. I find romanticizing my life such a key way to enjoy the less beautiful moments and also be more present in the now. I think romanticizing is one of those largely misunderstood terms; it’s not about a perfect life or everything always being great, but rather finding beauty in the life we do have. Taking time to appreciate the little things like birdsong or sunshine. I heard someone describe it as setting the playlist to your life or day—you don’t have to change the events to change your perspective and with the right playlist certain things can have a pink-hued romantic feel.
Four Vintage Outfits Inspired by Book Covers
With my love of books and clothes I'm not sure why it has taken me so long to do a post on outfits inspired by book covers! I remember way back in the early days of blogging (before hashtags were a big thing) some of my blogging friends did some posts in this style. Lately I've seen the hashtag #booksasoutfits popping up quite a bit in my feed so I decided to do my own spin on it. It was a fun opportunity to talk about a few books I loved and to show a bit of stylistic range. I usually wear quite similar outfits, but for this video I tried to go for more diverse looks, drawing on inspiration from a variety of eras and playing with different silhouettes and even hair styles. I hope you enjoy the video! If you do like it please subscribe to my YouTube and I'll work on making more videos soon!
Video: How to Identify Native Bluebells
Quick disclaimer: I am not an expert on flowers nor that comfortable in front of the camera! However, I am excited to share the latest video I made on identifying different types of bluebells. I can't always say which is which, but I can tell you the key characteristics of the two main bluebells you'll find in Ireland so you can better learn to identify them yourself! We're very lucky that both types of bluebells (as well as several hybrids) were all on our doorstep in the woods near my house which was quite handy for shooting this video! I hope you enjoy and do subscribe to my Youtube for more videos; I hope to create some videos on books and fashion in the near future.
Video: Foraging in the Woods & Making Wild Garlic Butter
I guess I do videos now...sometimes? I'm not going to lie I'm very uncomfortable in video form, but I figure practice makes perfect so I just need to keep shooting and learn to be more natural in front of the camera. This was shot in the woods near my house, if you're curious about where I live, I have an exclusive Patreon video on the park I live in that you can access when you become a patron. In that video I also explain more about how to identify wild garlic, so for this one I just dived in with the foraging and then making a wee recipe with it. This is the recipe I used, but it's such a simple recipe you really don't need to be too exact with the measurements--just flavor it to your own taste preferences. Blog Birthday: 8 Years Strong

As of today I have been blogging for 8 years! I have a hard time remembering exactly why I sat down and pinned that first post back in 2007 and the girl I was back then. There's been a lot of growth, several moves, and various hair colors in the intervening years and the blog has served as a diary recording many of those events. I'm grateful to have this journal to look back on and can only imagine how amusing it will be to look at eight years from today--certain old posts already make me cringe!
But I don't like to use my blog's birthday as a day to get very nostalgic and wax on about the past. Instead every year I try to think of some goals for the coming year and celebrate the occasion with a video. I've a lot of ideas for improving my blog and some new creative projects I'm really excited about this fall. For this year's special video Thomas and I decided to do a little fairytale themed shoot in some rainy woods. The video is inspired by the legend of "The Red String of Fate." I hope you enjoy it and thank you for reading my blog for all these years!
