Whenever I wear jeans it is the opposite of a "throw it on a go" wardrobe choice. I intentionally wear them on days when an activity calls for them or I want to feel a little anonymous or normal. I find it much more easy and comfortable to fling a dress on and trot out the door. However, I've worn jeans a couple of times lately and I thought I would do a little showcase of atypical style for me.
Also, I've been experimenting with braids lately...it is definitely a learning process; I think I should invest in some hair product like spray or gel to help me keep them intact! My daily hair process is to air dry and then brush it...really lazy. I really like this style, but it felt a little too saccharine to wear it with a dress. Although, by the time summer rolls around I'll probably be comfortable looking Heidi-esque. I'm quite ready for summer too, it felt like spring on this particular day and I swear it was the first time I saw the sun in weeks. My outfit pictures from last week and even Monday were taken either in a brief break from rain, or while getting rained on!

Outfit details:
Neneee cardigan
Brixton tee
Current Elliot jeans
DIY shoes
I don't go out often, but here's a typical "night out" look for those times that I do. Miniature heels or flats are a must because I love to dance and I'd rather be comfortable with a dash of sparkle than over-the-top. I've been told I dance well and I've been told I dance like a Charlie Brown character and I'm still trying to figure out if those are mutually exclusive!

Outfit details:
In4mation shirt, gift from Tofu's Closet
sequin skirt from some shop in Greece
Betsey Johnson via Modcloth tights
Bloch wedges via Giltfuse
Lovely.
ReplyDeleteI love the cardi. <3
What a great going out ensemble! I love your sequin shorts!
ReplyDeleteaw your simple little gif is so adorable =)
ReplyDeleteand i'm really enjoying your braid! i think i'm going to have to force nicole to wear hers braided some time... since mine is now unbraidably short
~lydia
Love the sparkle! I've been wearing jeans more often lately. I'm hoping it's not the winter blahs getting to me...
ReplyDeletei love the going out outfit, simple yet really unique.
ReplyDeleteGasp! The Clothes Horse in jeans?? It's atypical, but with that jester cardigan and braids, it's a unique ensemble-- I love it.
ReplyDeleteAnd of course dancing like a Snoopy character is correlated with dancing well! :)
http://charmalade.blogspot.com/
Both outfits are very stylish - I have to say I think you look great in jeans! I like how you still made your look so unique with the beautiful hairdo.
ReplyDeleteYes, jeans fits you well :)
ReplyDeleteBut I like more your sequin skirt outfit, with this shirt and nylons is absolutely great :)
I always love the little gif images you make.
ReplyDeleteThe bottom outfit is wonderful, by the way.
love the atypical outfit! that field your in is gorgeous :)
ReplyDeleteHow great to see you in both jeans and that night-time party outfit! Love the sequined skirt! Is it just me, or does it have a somewhat draped effect?
ReplyDeleteI almost never wear jeans, but I was thinking about it yesterday - and this is great inspiration. Thanks :)
Your hair is awesome! I love the black skirt!
ReplyDeleteI used to wear jeans loads but I only really do now when I'm mooching about at home (like today!) as it's very chilly. I'm a little bit in love with that cardigan! And the going out look, love the sparkle. I went out the other night just for a quick drink and it was freezing and pouring with rain so I wore a skirt but layered up and wore my fake fur coat....only to find all the girls that were out were in teeny tiny bodycon dresses with no tights, no coats.. Ok, I must be getting old and sensible but blimey!
ReplyDeleteAnyway, I wear flats or small heels out too so I can dance without looking like I'm in danger of toppling.
You in jeans! That's a.. frist? Second? But it's good :) love the braids and love the effect on the going-out pictures :D
ReplyDeleteYour braids look adorable! Did you use the tutorial I posted? And yes, hairspray helps. I'm all about the Aquanet when it comes to braids!
ReplyDeletexoxoxo
so cute:)

I like your look with the jeans...those are the perfect shade and style, too!
ReplyDeleteYour sequin skirt is perfect, and the shoes look lovely!
that meadow is so lovely!
ReplyDeleteYou have such a cutee blog! And your photos are so amazing! I wish were i lived was like that! Lovely!
ReplyDeleteI like ur blog!!
:)
http://www.skippinginheels.blogspot.com/
I love your braids! They make me wish I had long hair again.
ReplyDeleteHaha! You wouldn't think is weird to see someone in jeans.I think is good not wearing jeans all the time.I personally love your style.
ReplyDeleteI love your braids I think they came out great. I also and head over heel in love with the picture of you and the grass blowing around ever so sweetly.
ReplyDeleteLove the studded detail on your jeans, as well as the Bloch wedges!
ReplyDeletewww.sonyasark.blogspot.com
Love you in jeans!
ReplyDeleteit's really cool to see you in your more atypical outfits! i think you look great in jeans... and that sequin skirt is fantastic! your hair came out great too!
ReplyDeletei dont really wear jeans either...unless if the activity calls for it like you said. theres a lot more coordination and time that goes into an outfit with jeans whereas a dress you put on and just emblellish. my friends always ask me if i even own jeans haha!
ReplyDeleteGreat cardigan! You are cute with a braid too and that gif is so nice!
ReplyDeletePeace and love!
Oh, I think it was a good choice to not wear the 'Heidi-do' with a dress :) It would have been cute, but I like it this way more.! I also like your going out outfit. It looks super comfy and fun to wear. Thanks for sharing. :D
ReplyDeleteLove your blog! You have amazing taste!I would like to introduce you to my fashion blog CHICHI:

Thanks for taking a peek & hopefully following!

some days its nice to wear jeans, but I agree, its totally easier to wear a dress. but on chilly days I'll be darned if I can barely get up to even fathom trying to look cute. I'll be going to zara today to rummage through their sale and find some cute pants instead of jeans.
ReplyDeleteI adore both looks and how they're so atypical of your normal style.
ReplyDeleteIt's fun to mix things up!
Gorgeous gif with the grass.
Lulu Letty
I rarely wear jeans, but I'm wearing them today to travel. You look lovely with the braids(another of my recent loves) and your going outfit is unexpected and lovely.
ReplyDeleteThose jeans look great on you! That graphic t-shirt is awesome, and it definitely makes the outfit more than just "jeans and a t-shirt". Love it!
ReplyDeletehttp://www.ToilTroubleStyle.com
I LOVE how Charlie Brown characters dance! haha
ReplyDeleteI just love everything you're wearing & those pictures so beautiful...
ReplyDeleteawesome post! The milk-maid brains have been making an apperance on quite a few blogs lately, they are super cute! It's nice to see a post for jeans too, I have trouble with jeans, either they feel too boring, or the fit is usually off. Your going out clothes look similar to what mine usually are, and dancing is always fun!
ReplyDeleteMakes me wish I had enough hair to braid!
ReplyDeleteOh, the motion blur is terrific. You make me want to be brave enough to wear red lipstick. :)
ReplyDeleteI'm really loving the braids and seeing your hair like that makes me wish mine was long enough to give it a try, hopefully by the summer it will be!
ReplyDeletelove the braids, it fits you so well!
ReplyDeleteand on my gosh- i love you second outfit set, perfection!
I love your hairstyle! I wish I could get my hair to cooperate so I could actually braid it, let alone do a Heidi style. You look great in jeans, it's definitely different but still you! That cardigan is too awesome for words! And you look so chic for a night on the town! I actually find myself dancing like Peanuts characters too sometimes; there was this one dance in one of the movies, either the Christmas or Thanksgiving one, where you kind of bob back and forth.
ReplyDeleteI love that hair style, it really suits you. I wish I could do mine like that, but I can only just manage to do a straight braid down my back and even that looks dodgy.
ReplyDeleteLovely blog, have a great day x
Wow, lovely cardigan! ;))
ReplyDeleteJeans can be so hard. I always feel so sloppy in them. You look super cute and casual. Way to pull them off!
ReplyDeleteIt's nice to see people's night outfits- I should do it more often, too, since that is when I get to play the most. And I feel you with the jeans- I feel like I have to be a lot more careful with how I accessorize and what shirts I wear etc because the jeans tend to be forgotten in the overall look. That cardigan is really fun and I love your braids. I plan on doing that when it gets hot as well, to get it off my neck and I don't much care for a ponytail.

both these looks are so different for you and i like :) you look so comfy in jeans, but still your stylish self and i love your all black night look ;)

love both of these, you look cute in jeans! I never wear them either though to me they are uncomfortable lol and your night out outfit is adorable I loooooooove the tights so much I need those!!
ReplyDeletelovelove, M.
i loove all of these photos
ReplyDeletei mean the outfits are great!
love'em
I love the braids! It's such a surprise to see you in jeans, but I think you look really cute.
ReplyDeleteHeya, I've nominated you for the 'Gorgeous blogger' award. I think you style is so cute, and really thought out! ^_^
ReplyDeleteCheck my blog for details...
http://wearenotsnowflakes.blogspot.com/
I know exactly what you mean about the jeans. I feel much more comfortable and natural wearing a dress or skirt any day. But I will put on jeans if it's practical or if I'm trying to blend in.
ReplyDeleteLove the braids... and you look great in jeans.
The Peanuts gang is a happy dance kind of group- maybe it's that.
ReplyDeleteLove your hair, so lovely.
Marie @ Lemondrop ViNtAge
You look great! I love the t-shirts in both looks. Coincidentally, I just bought a new pair of jeans this week! I haven't worn jeans "regularly" (read: more than once a year) in years, but these might change that--I love them so. I still feel like I'm wearing more of a costume in jeans than anything else though...
ReplyDeleteAwesome sequin skirt as well! xo
it's kind of surreal to see you in jeans! haha.
ReplyDeleteI just started my first interior design internship, in which Fridays are jeans day. I *never* wear jeans, but last Friday I did, because I didn't want everyone saying "You know, you can wear jeans on Fridays..." That would've gotten old fast. I know what you mean about the anonymous thing. :)
ReplyDeletetop outfit is nice of course but i LOVE the bottom combination!
ReplyDeletei dont usually comment your blog so it kinda shows how much i love these outfits to make the effort :)
cutee blog you got going on here x
Lovely as always, wish I could make jeans look this stylish.
ReplyDeleteAnd I have to second the comment that it's kind of surreal to see you in jeans!
I loooove the Heidi braids! I used to do that all the time when I had hair. I do really miss that versatility.
ReplyDeletei completely agree with you, i actually find it more difficult to wear jeans than dresses or skirts! and i seem to have a similar hair routine to yours - ie, not much of one at all. you look great in both outfits!
ReplyDeleteIts neat seeing you wear outfits that you may not always were on the blog. Both styles are cute - I adore the cardigan. I tried the braid style last summer. Always had a hard time keeping them in place. I might give it another go, once it gets a little warmer - I need my long hair to keep me warm, lol. You look adorable as always!
ReplyDeletehttp://inbugsdrawers.blogspot.com
Effortlessly chic, as always, in everything! Love those Betsey tights - they are just too adorable! x
ReplyDeleteI bought a sequin skirt on etsy and I have shortned a little, I have to wear it (I always forget it). Love your outfit with the jeans and the braids look so feminine with that outfit :) pretty !
ReplyDeleteMe too I'm ready for summer and all those great summer dresses with no tights and cute sandals :):):)
That cardigan so motivates me to get knitting. And i like the touch of sparkle in the second outfit.
ReplyDeleteI know exactly what you mean... a dress and tights seem so easy and comfortable; a jeans is a real decision (I also find the fabric often a bit hard. Bit of a wuss, that's me...) But the jeans suit you wonderfully. Sabine x
ReplyDeleteI love both outfits!!!!!!!!
ReplyDeleteAnd that photograpy is awesome!!!!!!!!! at night! So rad!!!
Love both looks! The braids are beyond stunning.
ReplyDeletei feel the same way about jeans! love your hair :o)
ReplyDeleteBoth these outfits are something I would definitely wear. I need to start wearing jeans more...skirts and dresses are taking over aha
ReplyDeletexxx
i love the colours in this Photos, really cool.
ReplyDeletecheck out my blog, http://studentloansareforfashion.blogspot.com/
Lois x
that first look is so adoable, you look like a 'regular' girl (whatever that means). :)
ReplyDeleteOmg I've been told I dance like a Charlie Brown character too! We must take it as a compliment...
ReplyDeleteAwww! Love love love! You still look unique with the cardigan, haha :). But girl, that's a good thing!
ReplyDeleteI must say that the braids are a magnificient look on you too!
take care, teri at tintedseaglass.blogspot.com
i think you look lovely in jeans and i love the way the braids spice things up.
ReplyDeleteand that two-colored cardigan is awesome.
you braided your hair! it looks great :] curious how you saved the sequins for night. was that intentional, 'cause i always have trouble wearing sparklies during the day, too.
ReplyDeletei've always wanted to try braids! i'll bet you'll be rocking them all summer now! and it's so cool to see a night outfit, if i hadn't seen it i wouldn't have been able to imagine it but your outfit is so 'you'! i love the sequins with hearts
ReplyDeleteLove the sequined skirt and the adorable braids! Always experimenting with new trends !
ReplyDeleteI love the braid! I know what you mean about wearing jeans, but I really do love wearing them. I'm trying to break out of the habit though.
ReplyDeletei'm like that with jeans too!
ReplyDeleteYour little sequined skirt and stockings are quite lovely. Are those little hearts patterned on the stockings?
One thing i've found when i braid my hair is that if it's a little damp it holds much more neatly, even once it has dried.
I love those jeans! I've been looking for a pair like that for so long. Also, your night out outfit is way cute!
ReplyDeletelove your sequined skirt, great going out look. I always have a hard time with that category. and the charlie brown compliment is adorable. I tend to just bounce around haha
ReplyDeletei fell like jeans are always a bit of a cop-out, even though i do wear them as a sort of throw-it-on and go outfit. i love the sequin skirt/tights combo you have going there though!
ReplyDeleteLove both of these looks! Your hair is so adorable here, I'm loving all of the braids I've been seeing lately.. adds romance to any outfit.
ReplyDeleteI dont like wearing jeans either but I like how you still look put together while wearing them.
ReplyDeletehttp://thedollhouse0101.blogspot.com/
Love the sparkly outfit!! It is so pretty, you look gorgeous with the red lips :)
ReplyDeleteEven though, according to you it doesn't come naturally, you look great in jeans! And that sequined skirt is really fabulous!
ReplyDeleteI find it really hard to wear jeans, so I love to see how you've styled them here. The braid is gorgeous ! x
ReplyDeleteI feel exactly the same way about jeans. it takes so much more effort for me to wear them than a dress!
ReplyDeleteI really like your "night out" outfit, it's super cute but still looks really casual.
ReplyDeleteAnd, if it helps, my husband and I incorporated the Charlie Brown dance into our first dance at the wedding. So...I vote that means you're a good dancer!
I love the relaxed look... and especially that cardigan! amazing :)
ReplyDeleteloveee these two outfits - not your usual choices but still completely "you"
ReplyDeletelove the hair in the first shoot!
ReplyDeleteand in the second love the all outfit! like stylish, party, rocker adn femenine girl!
Lovely! Not just the outfit but also the photos of course! I always feel so repetitive commenting on your blog because I always say similar things (how awesome you are) but yeah, you're made of awesome!
ReplyDeleteeven with the jeans- u have a very unique style!
ReplyDeletelove the hair!
i'm practicing on my braids!
ReplyDeleteand hey, you look good in jeans...
and that sequined skirt.. it's the other side of the librarian..hmmm. *wink*
gizellefaye.blogspot.com
aaahhh yes! :D looking great in jeans and braids! :D i love your wedges in the last photo!!!! :D
ReplyDeleteI love your hair braided like that, it looks amazing!
ReplyDeleteBoth outfits are amazing! And I love the braided hair. Can you please make a tutorial for that? I've been dying to try that style but can't find a decent tutorial. :)
ReplyDeletei love those shoes. amazing outfit
ReplyDeletei'm slowly getting to the point were grabbing a skirt is a lazy day outfit. It takes so much more creativity to do something new with jeans! I know I mentioned this a few comments ago, but the braids are fantastic. Hair crush! you almost make me wish I had long hair (which is really saying something)
ReplyDelete-indigo
your hair and rings are the best shit ever!!!
ReplyDeleteand thats not even comparing it to the fab outfit underneath!
you roooock!
I need to start looking for more fields to take pictures in. THese pictures look beautiful. And I'm a hardcore fan of your braids...
ReplyDeleteThe best part with the animated gif is not that the grass is moving in the wind, it's the fact that we can see you breathe! :)
ReplyDeleteYou look lovely in the braid. Maybe my hair is long enough for experiemntations like that again...
your hair process is still better than mine...I just air dry and DONE!
ReplyDeleteAlso, I've always wanted to dance like Charlie Brown. <3 but first, I need to learn how to simply dance...
That cardigan is fabulous! Love the two colors too :D
ReplyDelete♡,
Jessica
my friend owns brixton. so great to see his stuff out and about. love the blog!
ReplyDeleteGirl, you look so beautiful with your braid!! Ohhh you should surely wear your hair like that more often:)
ReplyDeleteI think I'm starting to want to do more things with my hair at the moment.
You look so beautiful with the jeans and that 2 tone cardigan too.I'm wearing red nails at the moment too!
And your night out outfit is really comfy and chic too.
...now you have that "Despicable Me" song stuck in my head. Grr. :)
ReplyDeleteI never would have pegged you for the Misfits tee shirt-type, but you totally pull it off. And the braids are great!
Wait...that's not a Misfits shirt. Derp derp. Nevermind!
ReplyDeleteWhat a beautiful blog!
ReplyDeleteAmazing discovery:)

KAWAII!!!
ReplyDeleteFROM TOKYO WITH LOVE!
http://mayasagenda.blogspot.com/
love the two toned cardigan from the first set. i have problems with those braids too, they always tend to fall haphazardly off my head by the end of the day no matter how many bobby pins i use.
ReplyDeleteI think my hair is still to short to pull off that braid look - I think it looks super pretty. My hair routine is basically the same as yours, I am really lazy and I almost never wear product.
ReplyDeleteThose wedges in the second outfit are extremely awesome. Such a bummer gilt doesn't ship internationally
Both of the outifts are lovely. I love your gif too, with the subtle movement.
ReplyDeletea refreshing change. :) jeans are great! and yay! nenee cardigan! i love nenee. I've got my eyes set on her little pink high waisted shorts at her etsy store right now. Hopefully they'll still be there next week when I get paid! also, your hair braids are really cool!
ReplyDeleteGod I love that cardigan. And what you did with your hair - unfortunately I chopped all of mine of recently, so it'll be a while til I can attempt to copy that look!!
ReplyDeletehey i don't think i've ever seen you wearing jeans before, you look great :)
ReplyDeleteloove your hairdo on the first pictres
leen
i love the braid, you really suit it. i tried it a year or so back but having black hair that is quite thin, you couldn't see it. made me look like a boy :(
ReplyDeletei know exactly what you mean about wearing jeans. for me it requires much more thought then throwing on a dress or a skirt. I also only air dry and brush my hair!
ReplyDeletealso, i love your going out look! i really enjoy the way the tee shirt tones the skirt and the shoes down a little while keeping the outfit eye catching and unique
You are adorable in both of these atypical outfits! I love your heidi braids with jeans.
ReplyDeletelove, Jenny
PS--I've been told by more than ten different people that I dance like a Charlie Brown character! I wonder we are dancing dopplegangers..
Yeah, these 2 outfits are so atypical, but still so lovely! Love our braided hair.
ReplyDeleteCute first look and rad second look! Love your milkmaid braid- I've been meaning to do that but I've been waiting for my hair to get longer! Love the t-shirt with the sequins- it's always a nice balance!
ReplyDeleteI love your night out shoes.
ReplyDeleteI really like the jeans look... and the great hair :).
ReplyDeleteLove the braids and the two tone cardy!
ReplyDeletemagpie-girl.blogspot.com xo
perfect total black outfit <3
ReplyDeletehttp://justaddaccessory.blogspot.com/
GREAT cardigan. The colors are great and the red lips are a nice extra pop of color! Will have to try these braids out one day..
ReplyDeletexo, Kim www.crowded-closet.com
Your braids turned out wonderful. I unsuccessfully tried to do a braid today and couldn't get it to not fall out. I think my hair has too many layers for braids. Oh well.
ReplyDeleteGet some pomade if you get a hair product it tames those unruly flyaways without making your hair look greasy or stiff. This Aveda kind is my favorite when I can afford it.
you look so cute in jeans! it's such a different look for you! and you should do a tutorial on braids...i love how you did this one in your hair.
ReplyDelete(i am NOW just catching up on blogs...blahhh it's been too long!)
Oh, I had exactly the same hairstyle today! Wicked. It's weird to see you in jeans - in a good way though! :)
ReplyDeleteI love your "night out" outfit. I totally agree with you about being comfortable.
ReplyDeletexoxo
i think you look pretty in your denim and casual wear, just as you do in your skirts and dresses.
ReplyDeletethe heidi braids are cute on you, too!
some say you dance like a charlie brown character? i that's a huge compliment -- those guys have smooth moves, especially with the wild arm swings. did you know? they rave!
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3xZ2jleuwO8
Gorgeous, love both outfits. You have lovely hair and a very nice blog.
ReplyDeleteThe Morrisfits tshirt is genius!
ReplyDeleteoooo...the clothes horse about town! ;) I like!
ReplyDeleteI would wear that cardi to death, I love it.
ReplyDeleteI so want to try braids too, but I get so frustrated! So much hair!!!But yours inspires me to try at it again!
I love the cardigan. very rare to find them here in Wellington.
ReplyDeletebtw, I'm going to link your blog at mine.
Care to exchange?
http://popsicle-dress.blogspot.com
i love your jeans look, but i think your night on the town may be one of my favorites! it's SO fun!
ReplyDeleteLove the braid in your hair :)
ReplyDeletei LOVE braids! i tried the same style but my hair is too short and it looked stupid, very upsetting. also i am SO LAZY with my hair.
ReplyDeletethose heart print tights are awesome too!
wow I love this whole thing. Wonderful. Nice and casual...yet classy.
ReplyDeleteI've never seen you dress like this before, and its SO cute!!!! I LOVE the skirt so much and those tights (always <3). And you're hair looks really good here. Not sure what you did differently but its pretty :)
ReplyDeletei love your outfits! you are so cute.the braids in your hair are so prettttyyy! i wish i had hair like you! i love your blog and always love visiting it! <3

Oh, I almost bought a pair of shorts covered in sequins. I'm kind of regretting not getting it now! I have a friend I meet with and I'm always wearing a skirt or dress when I see her, and on the rare occasion I wear jeans, she's always so shocked!
ReplyDeleteyou look so cute, even when you're casual!!
ReplyDelete
