During the summer I'm often in the mood for a light film--a comedy or a musical usually fits the bill. So this week, I am recommending a rather silly little film Heaven Can Wait. The story begins at the gateway to Hell (a rather plush-looking lobby) as recently deceased roue, Henry Van Cleve, recounts his life in an attempt to convince the Devil that he belongs "down there." We watch him grow up, but learn little. Things seem to change when he falls in love, but old habits do die hard. During his development we are treated to an excellent cast of supporting characters, who steal many of the scenes. In the end, it's a fun film for those lazy summer days when you aren't in the mood for something serious.
