Every time I wear this dress I'm reminded of how much I like it. I would definitely love to more constellation and galaxy prints to my wardrobe but they tend to be found in leggings or mullet-hem skirts...neither styles being what I tend to favor in my wardrobe. Oh well, I suppose the rarity of finding that perfect piece is what makes it feel so special.
I too love this dress (and this outfit in particular!) and have similar difficulties finding galaxy print on the kind of clothing I'm looking for. It's a bit different from what you usually wear, and way out of my own price range, but I am quite fond of http://www.urbanoutfitters.com/urban/catalog/productdetail.jsp?id=26796078&parentid=BRANDS this galaxy dress from Evil Twin. No mullet-hem here! Just an option you may consider to branch out your galaxy collection!
Your dress is gorgeous! I think you are right about the rarity making it special. If all the world was covered in diamonds, we would liken them to salt crystals.
Can I just say I love your astronomy inspirations. As an actual astronomer (well, cosmology grad student) it's amazing to see people find inspiration in the stars.
@Meowsk, thank you for the suggestion. I actually bought an item at from shadowplaynyc and had a terrible experience...it arrived late, the hem was taped instead of sewn and the size wasn't what was advertised. I'm glad your experience was better, but sadly I'm not shopping from them again.
I have exactly the same problem! I keep hoping that eventually as cosmic prints become more popular a greater variety of items will become available. Like you I've managed to find one cosmic print dress in a nice cut - absolutely couldn't afford it but I bought it and I'm so glad I did because it sold out in days.
I was just taking a look at the Etsy activity page associated with my account and found this beauty: http://www.etsy.com/listing/120584104/galaxy-cosmic-print-retro-pin-up-one?ref=af_new_item :) When I saw it, I remembered your blog and how you wrote you were wishing for more galaxy/star/cosmic printed clothing :)

ReplyDeleteI hate that there seem to be no nice galaxy print dresses that are non-mullet! I should have splurged on that Wren dress when I had the chance!
